Future Simple Tense

1. Will Positive Subject +will + verb Ex. They will watch TV. You will play football. Negative Subject +will not + verb Ex. I will not sing. We will not go to school. Question Form Will + Subject + verb Ex. Will They watch TV? 2. Going to Positive Subject + verb to be + going to + verb Ex. You are going to run. She is going to eat pizza. Negative Subject + verb to be + not+ going to + verb Ex. They are not going to dance. I am not going to swim. Question Form Verb to be + Subject + going to + verb Ex. Are you going to go to the party?

Uses for Will and Going to


(1) Predictions: Both "will" and "be going to" can be used to make predictions about the future. Ex. Weather predictions - Take your umbrella. It is going to rain. Sara said it will rain tomorrow. (2) Prior Plans: "Going to" is used to express plans previously made for the future. You cannot use "will" for this purpose. Ex. I am going to meet my friends this weekend. (3) Willingness: "Will" is used to describe willingness to do something. Ex. A. Someone's at the door. B. I will get it.
