The preposition is a word which shows relationships among words in a sentence. The relationships include direction, place, time, cause,m manner and amount. Eg : At ,by ,for ,from ,in ,into ,of ,off ,on ,out ,over ,till ,to ,up ,upon ,with ,under ,down. Prepositions of place show you where something is :Preposition Place / position / location In A room, building, street, town, country. At Events Places Specific street addresses For a place with a river Being on a surface For a certain side (left, right) For a floor in a house For public transport, for television, for radio On the ground, lower than (or covered by) something else

Prepositions of time show you the concept of time or duration of time :Preposition Concept / duration Example Since From a certain point of time(past till now) The recycling centre has been operating since 1980. Compound Preposition Definition : Which are generally formed by prefixing a preposition to a noun, an adjective or an adverb. Eg : above, about, across, along, among, against, after, around, between, beyond, before, behind, beside, through, towards, since, outside, within, without

Phrase Preposition Definition : The noun phrase which follows the preposition can be called a preposition complement and the preposition together with its complement is known as a preposition phrase. Eg : according to, in course of, by means of, with the help of, in order to, instead of, in addition to, at the end of, along with, in the middle, by way of. A phrase preposition consists of a preposition followed by a preposition complement. The complement is a usually a noun phrase.
