Song Analysis Project Guidelines

The project asks students to choose a song with a story or meaning behind it, research the song's singer and release date, who it was addressed to, the lyrics and their significance, public reception and later versions, and what the song means to them personally. Students will then present their findings in a format like a PowerPoint or scrapbook and cite any websites used for research. The due date is May 15.

PROJECT WORK: “The story behind a song”

1. Choose a song you like. It needs to have a “story” behind: who the
song was addressed to, whether it was part of a film or used as a
symbol of a given social group, etc.

2. Search for information about the following aspects of the


song:

- Singer(s)/group and release date.


- Who the song was addressed to (if possible)
- Lyrics and significance
- Public reception and later versions
- what the song means to you

3. Choose a way to present your work: ppt, scrapbook or any other way
you can think of.
Do not forget to write all the websites you used to do your work.

4. Date due: till May 15
