Understanding ARP Protocol and Functionality

ARP is a protocol used to map IP network addresses to the physical MAC addresses of a host's network interface. It works by broadcasting ARP requests onto the local network, and hosts reply with their MAC address. Common ARP commands allow viewing the ARP cache to see current IP/MAC mappings, or flushing the cache to force new address resolution.
