Math Problems and Solutions Guide

The document contains 10 math and physics problems with multiple parts each. It asks the reader to box their answers. The first problem asks how many flowers a man can place on each of 3 graves if the number of flowers he has doubles after passing each river, starting and ending with 0 flowers. The second defines the limit of a function as x approaches 0. The remaining problems cover a variety of calculus, geometry, and probability topics.

Sup guys, itd be really stellar if you boxed your answers and all of that jazz.

1. There are 3 rivers and after each river lies a grave. So there are 3 rivers and 3 graves. A man wants to leave the SAME amount of flowers at each grave, and be left with none at the end. What happens though is that each time he passes through one of the rivers the number of flowers he has doubles. So he has to start off with what number of flowers, taking into consideration that they double, so that he is left with no flowers whatsoever at the end? How many does he place on each grave?

8. The surface area of a sphere is 28. What is the volume of the sphere?

9. A 4 feet by 4 feet dartboard has a 2 foot square target. What is the probability that a random throw that hits the dartboard will hit the target?

10. Find a point of intersection of the circle x2 + 2x + y2 + 4y = -1 and the line x y = 1.

Answers:
1. He can start with 0 and leave 0 on each grave or start with 7 and leave 8 on each grave. Multiples of 7 and 8 are also correct. (2(2(2x-y)-y)-y) = 0 (2(4x-3y)-y) = 0 8x 7y = 0 8x = 7y 2. a.) 1 b.) 0 3. 3x2 8x + 98 4. a.) 3-4-5 b.) 5-12-13 c.) 7-24-25 d.) 8-15-17

Solve x - y = 1 for x (x = 1 + y) and substitute in the equation of the circle to obtain: (1 + y)2 + 2(1 + y) + y2 + 4y = -1 Write the above quadratic equation in standard form and solve it to obtain y = -2 + 2 and y = -2 2 Use x = 1 + y to find x Points of intersection: (-1 +2, -2 +2) and (-1 2, -2 2)
