Week 7

Teaching to Learn Draft


Step 1: In your designated caucus, identify the 6+ grammar topics you think are most important for your target audience(s). Step 2: When the live draft begins, teams will take turns selecting their grammar topics. Topics cannot be repeated. Each team gets one steal; however, topics can only be stolen once. Step 3: Once drafting is completed, allocate your drafted topics among your team members. You must also determine who will present on which day; divide your team equally between the two days.

Let the Draft Begin!

Sentence Survivor
Goal: To be the last team to eliminate something from the sentence so that it remains a sentence. Rules: Teams take turns making 1-3 moves. A move counts as:
The erasure of one word The erasure of one punctuation mark The addition of one punctuation mark.

Other teams may challenge a teams turn if they believe the teams move(s) result(s) in an ungrammatical sentence. Upon completion of a turn:
Another team may say Challenge! and then explain why the current iteration is not a sentence. The team who is challenged will have the opportunity to refute the challenge. The class will vote on whether the challenge stands---majority rules.

Teams may pass However, if a team gets a combined 2 accepted challenges and/or passes, that team is eliminated.
