A portfolio spanning hundreds of operational sites should give you answers in seconds. This one required days just to ask the question properly. We worked on a programme where the data to run the estate existed, but lived across legacy systems that had grown independently over years. Each capturing what it needed in its own format with no shared solutions architecture connecting them. Asking something as straightforward as what is this portfolio costing to run meant - Manually extracting from multiple systems - Reconciling discrepancies - Compiling a report that was outdated before it reached the person who needed it. The architecture was never designed for the scale it was being asked to serve. We started with stakeholder sessions to understand what decisions people actually needed to make and what visibility they were missing to make them confidently. Not what the documentation said. What they struggled with every single week. We developed a bespoke data lifecycle and analytics platform using Agile Scrum. Real time dashboards surfacing property metrics, costs, and operational performance across the entire estate. GDPR compliant data protection built in from day one, not added later. Testing processes and aligned data assets so people could trust what they were seeing. We built with internal teams, not for them. Knowledge transfer throughout meant the capability stayed after we left. The results spoke for themselves. 1. Leaders gained real visibility across hundreds of sites for the first time. 2. Decisions that took days now took minutes. 3. Hidden inefficiencies became visible and fixable. 4. Data quality improved because ownership was finally clear. The broader insight is one we see repeatedly across large operational programmes. Systems get built to record. Not to connect. The value was always there. It was just trapped behind architecture that was never asked to do more than store. How much of your operational data exists but cannot be used fast enough to matter? #DataAnalytics #FacilitiesManagement #PublicSector

Companies lose weeks turning contracts into cash. Orb's Contract-to-Cash is set to revolutionize this. Here’s how it usually goes: Sales closes the deal. Finance gets the contract. Then comes the chaos - PDFs, spreadsheets, usage data, manual billing. Invoices go out late. Cash gets stuck. DSO creeps up. Orb decided to fix that with Contract-to-Cash: From signed deal to invoice in minutes. No scripts. No engineering. No waiting for implementation windows. How it works: 1. Upload your signed contract PDF. 2. Orb’s AI extracts key billing terms automatically. 3. Add usage if needed. 4. Generate ready-to-send invoices - instantly. That’s it. Finance can now turn contracts into cash without manual reconciliation or spreadsheet chaos. The result? A) DSO drops. B) Forecasts get cleaner. C) Invoices go out 4–6 days faster on average. D) The same team handles 10× more contracts - with zero extra headcount. Orb Contract-to-Cash flips the billing model: You start with the contract, not the system. Finance gets speed, accuracy, and control: Built on the same engine that powers Orb Billing and Orb Simulations. Because monetization shouldn’t slow growth - it should power it. Contracts in. Invoices out. Cash collected. That’s how modern finance should look. Want to understand better how it works? Get the guide here: https://lnkd.in/ejv-B33j

Is your city’s CCTV network making your streets safer: or just recording history? Cities face converging threats: coordinated crime networks, organised retail theft, transport corridor attacks, and emerging cyber physical risks. Traditional CCTV, reactive, siloed, operator dependent, leaves critical gaps. In 2023, London's Metropolitan Police deployed AI enabled CCTV across high crime boroughs. The result: a 22% reduction in burglary rates within 18 months. This shift from reactive recording to proactive policing transformed how London approached urban safety. Response times dropped by 34%, and citizen confidence in public spaces recovered. The cameras became a tool for prevention, not just prosecution. The lesson was profound: surveillance without intelligence is surveillance theatre. For nations pursuing urban resilience, this represents a fundamental strategic advantage. Safer streets attract investment, build social cohesion, and reduce strain on emergency services. Cities that integrate CCTV into broader smart city ecosystems gain a 15 to 20% improvement in emergency response efficiency, directly protecting national economic interests. Urban resilience, the capacity to anticipate, absorb, and recover from disruption, depends on integrated surveillance capabilities. Nations that invest in coherent CCTV plus intelligence systems gain strategic advantage in stability, economic security, and public confidence. For national interests, resilient cities are foundations of competitive advantage. North Star Strategies has supported both government and private sector in this evolution. We've helped develop CCTV governance frameworks that transform fragmented systems into unified intelligence architectures. We've advised on policy, capability assessment, and ethical by design deployment across public safety, transport, and critical infrastructure sectors. The question for your leadership: Is your city's surveillance infrastructure building resilience or just collecting data? #CCTV #SecurityInnovation #UrbanSafety #SafeCities

In today’s world, installing CCTV cameras is only half of the security solution. Many organizations invest thousands in CCTV systems but leave the cameras unmonitored, only reviewing footage after an incident has already occurred. By then, the damage is done. This is where a CCTV Monitoring Room becomes critical. A properly managed monitoring room allows organizations to: • Detect suspicious activity - before it escalates • Respond to incidents in real time • Improve safety and operational control • Protect assets, employees, and customers • Maintain a 24/7 security oversight system Security today is no longer just about recording events, it is about preventing them. Through my experience in security operations and surveillance management, I have seen how effective monitoring teams can stop theft, detect safety risks, and support quick decision-making for management. Organizations that truly value security should not stop at installing cameras. They should invest in trained monitoring personnel and structured surveillance systems. If your company is considering setting up or improving a CCTV Monitoring Room, I would be happy to share insights. Let’s move from reactive security to proactive protection. #SecurityManagement #CCTVMonitoring #SecurityOperations #RiskManagement #CorporateSecurity #Ghana

Most companies brag about their security cameras. Crystal-clear. Night vision. Motion alerts. 4K feeds. Are attackers really trying to beat your cameras? No, they’re slipping in lenses your cameras can’t see. Ultra-low-light micro-cameras, the kind that operate at 𝟎.𝟎𝟒 𝐥𝐮𝐱 don’t need visibility.  They hide in the dark.  They feed off ambient light from LED indicators, hallway spill, or even laptop screen glow.  They can see you long before you see them. They’re cheap. Silent. Smaller than shirt buttons. And they’re showing up in places where conversations matter more than passwords: 1. Behind meeting-room projectors 2. Inside false ceilings 3. Inside power adapters 4. In desk cable cutouts 5. Even inside “decorative” objects that nobody questions We’ve run sweeps where teams secured endpoints, cloud, identity stacks...everything. Yet a single micro-camera hidden in a blind corner was enough to compromise strategy discussions worth millions. Digital security protects systems. Physical sweeps protect secrets. And today, attackers don’t choose one or the other. They blend both. If your organisation hasn’t combined 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 + 𝐜𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐬, your security posture has a blind spot big enough to leak your entire roadmap. Because the real espionage doesn’t come in 4K. It comes in shadows. #CyberSecurity #PhysicalSecurity #CorporateEspionage #RiskManagement

Network & CCTV (ELV) Engineer | VLAN | PoE | Fiber | IP Surveillance | Cisco (CCNA) | Building Scalable Infrastructure

Stop calling it "just a camera system." One of the biggest misconceptions in the security industry is that CCTV is a standalone hardware task. Many believe it’s as simple as mounting a camera and running a cable. The reality? In 2026, CCTV is 10% optics and 90% Network Engineering. The Gap Between "Installed" and "Engineered" As shown in the image below, there is a massive divide between a basic setup and an enterprise-grade solution: The Amateur Approach (Left): Messy "spaghetti" cabling, unmanaged switches, and zero consideration for data traffic. This leads to dropped frames, latency, and a system that fails exactly when you need it most. The Professional Standard (Right): A structured ecosystem. We aren't just looking at cameras; we are looking at VLAN segmentation to isolate traffic, PoE budgets to ensure power stability, and Fiber backbones to handle massive bandwidth for 4K streams. Why the Network is the Backbone For large-scale projects—from Enterprise campuses to the Smart City initiatives across KSA—the security system is only as strong as the network it sits on. To build a truly resilient system, you must master: Bandwidth Management: Calculating bitrates to prevent network congestion. Network Security: Hardening the NVR and cameras against cyber threats. Scalability: Using Layer 3 switching and structured cabling that allows for future growth. Storage Logic: Implementing RAID configurations and failover clusters for zero-loss recording. The Path Forward Transitioning from a "CCTV Technician" to an ELV & Network Engineer changed my perspective. It’s no longer about just getting a picture on a screen; it’s about designing a secure, high-uptime data environment that happens to carry video. In the modern market, the most valuable professionals are those who can bridge the gap between physical security and Cisco-level networking. The Takeaway: If you aren't designing the network, you aren't truly designing the surveillance. What’s your take? Are you seeing more IT-centric requirements in your security projects lately? Let’s discuss in the comments. 👇 #CCTV #Networking #NetworkEngineering #ELV #SmartCities #KSA #SecuritySystems #Cisco #NVR #CyberSecurity #DigitalTransformation
