Os verbos em inglês na sua forma original têm a estrutura inicial com “to”, por exemplo:
to speak = falar. to play = jogar
Quando fazemos a conjugação verbal, essa partícula, “to”, é removida. Por exemplo:
I speak English. = Eu falo inglês.
You eat papaya. = você come mamão.
Quando temos dois verbos juntos, o primeiro é conjugado e perde o “to”, já o segundo permanece na
forma original com o “to”, por exemplo:
I like to speak. = eu gosto de falar.
You like to play. = você gosta de brincar.
O verbo “like” tem como significado “gostar de”, portanto quando você montar a frase, não haverá
necessidade de utilizar qualquer ligação em inglês para a função “de”, por exemplo:
I like you. – eu gosto de você
You like your father. – você gosta do seu pai.
O artigo definido ‘the” é invariável e pode ser usado no singular, plural, masculino e feminino, por
exemplo:
the boy = o menino the boys = os meninos
the girl = a menina the girls = as meninas
Os pronomes “my” e “your” também são invariáveis e podem ser usados no singular, plural,
masculino e feminino, por exemplo:
my dog = meu cachorro my dogs = meus cachorros
my sister = minha irmã my sisters = minhas irmãs
your brother = seu irmão your brothers = seus irmãos
your cracker = sua bolacha your crackers = suas bolachas
Quando utilizamos os pronomes “my” e “your” precisamos excluir automaticamente o artigo “the”,
por exemplo:
o meu cachorro = my dog
a sua mãe = your mother
As palavras I, English, Portuguese (assim como todos os demais idiomas e nacionalidades) são sempre
escritas com letra maiúscula.
I speak English. = Eu falo inglês.
You speak Portuguese. = Você fala português.
