It’s time for an off-road head-to-head with two incredible Toyotas!
We’ve got our hands on the Arctic Trucks Toyota Hilux AT37, and it’s going up
against a super rare, one-of-one Hilux… It’s the Top Gear Polar Special Hilux - the
same one that the original Top Gear team drove to the North Pole!
The two are going head-to-head over a series of challenges on an off-road course to
see which of the two is the best off-road! But how will they compare? Let’s take a
closer look at the stats.
The AT37 is based on the current generation Hilux, so it comes with a 2.8-litre 4-
cylinder turbo diesel engine that produces 204hp and 500Nm. Power is sent to all
four wheels via a 6-speed auto, and it weighs 2,200kg. It comes with several
modifications, including 37” all-terrain tyres, upgraded front & rear
differentials, as well as an adjustable performance suspension system. All in, the
car and the upgrades cost £78,000.
Then we come to the Top Gear special edition Hilux. It’s based on the 2006
generation, and is powered by a 3-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel that creates 171hp
and 360Nm. It has 4WD, ultra-low gearing, and 38” snow tyres. It also comes with
pneumatic locking differentials and a couple of additional unique mods!
The question is, will the newer Hilux propel itself to victory? Or could the older
Hilux snatch the win? You’ll have to stick with Mat, Sam & Colin to find out!

Nós conseguimos a Arctic Trucks Toyota Hilux AT37, e ela vai enfrentar uma Hilux
super rara, única no mundo... É a Top Gear Polar Special Hilux – a mesma que a
equipe original do Top Gear levou até o Polo Norte!
As duas vão se enfrentar em uma série de desafios em um circuito off-road para ver
qual delas é a melhor fora de estrada! Mas como será que elas vão se sair? Vamos
dar uma olhada mais de perto nos números.
A AT37 é baseada na geração atual da Hilux, equipada com um motor 2.8 turbo diesel
de 4 cilindros que entrega 204cv e 500Nm. A potência vai para as quatro rodas por
meio de um câmbio automático de 6 marchas, e ela pesa 2.200kg. Vem com várias
modificações, incluindo pneus all-terrain de 37”, diferenciais dianteiro e traseiro

Já a edição especial Top Gear da Hilux é baseada na geração 2006 e traz um motor
3.0 turbo diesel de 4 cilindros com 171cv e 360Nm. Conta com tração 4x4, marchas
super reduzidas e pneus de neve de 38”. Também vem com diferenciais pneumáticos
blocantes e algumas modificações únicas adicionais!
A questão é: será que a Hilux mais nova vai se garantir na vitória? Ou será que a
