Present Continuous (ou Present Progressive) é um tempo verbal usado para descrever
ações que estão acontecendo no momento da fala ou que são temporárias. É formado
pelo verbo to be no presente (am, is, are) + o verbo principal com a terminação -ing.
Exemplo:
I am learning English.
She is reading a book. (Ela está lendo um livro.)
They are playing soccer. (Eles estão jogando futebol.)
No Present Continuous, é necessário sempre o “TO BE” (am, is are) e acrescentar “ing” no
final do verbo.

Note que nestes casos, a tradução de cada palavra é quase sempre na mesma sequência em
ambos idiomas.

Verbos terminados em "e": remove-se o "e" antes de adicionar “ing”. E.g.: “make
→ making”; “write → writing”.
Verbos com uma sílaba e terminados em consoante-vogal-consoante (CVC):
dobra-se a última consoante antes de adicionar “ing” (exceto se for "w", "x" ou
"y"). E.g.: “run → running”; “sit → sitting”.
Verbos terminados em "ie": o "ie" é trocado por "y" antes de adicionar -ing. E.g.:
“die → dying”; “lie → lying”
Usos principais:
Ações no momento da fala: Para indicar uma ação que está acontecendo no exato momento.
E.g.: "I am eating lunch right now." (Estou almoçando agora.)
Ações temporárias: Para ações que estão em andamento, mas não são permanentes. E.g.: "She
is studying at university this year." (Ela está estudando na universidade este ano.)
Mudanças ou tendências: Para descrever situações que estão mudando ou se desenvolvendo.
E.g.: "The climate is getting warmer." (O clima está ficando mais quente.)
Planos ou eventos futuros próximos: Para indicar um futuro próximo já planejado ou
agendado. E.g.: "I am meeting my friends tomorrow." (Eu vou me encontrar com meus
amigos amanhã.)
Crie interrogatives e as responda com affirmatives e negatives.
Exemplo: Are you playing sports?
Yes, I am playing sports
No, I’m not playing sports
Crie negative-interrogatives e as responda com affirmatives e
negatives.
Aren’t you playing sports?
Exemplo: Yes, I’m playing sports
No, I am not playing sports
Crie novamente interrogatives e as responda com affirmatives
