Para satisfazer ao pedido de amigos e corrigir as deformidades que se encontram
nalgumas copias, imprimo agora as modestas quadras que principiaram a ser
conhecidas sob o titulo de Canções d'Amor, por me ser impossivel publioar de
momento o livro que conterá, além das modernas, as principaes composições dos
meus volumes de versos, que de ha muito não apparecem no mercado.

O que me admira e me assombra

Moram aqui uns vizinhos
Que sabem quanto fazemos;
São capazes de informar-nos

Dizer que Deus dá Castigos
Eternos, que não têm fim,
É a maior das blasphemias,
Heresia, quanto a mim…

Professor Michael S. Hart is the originator of the Project Gutenberg-tm concept
of a library of electronic works that could be freely shared with anyone. For
