Past Simple

Si usa per descrivere azioni concluse in un momento specifico del passato.

Come si forma:

• Verbi Regolari:
o Formula Affermativa: Soggetto + Verbo base + -ed
▪ Esempio: I **worked** hard yesterday.
o Formula Negativa: Soggetto + did not (didn't) + Verbo base
▪ Esempio: She **didn't watch** the movie.
o Formula Interrogativa: Did + Soggetto + Verbo base?
▪ Esempio: **Did** you **visit** Rome last year?
• Verbi Irregolari:
o Formula Affermativa: Soggetto + 2ª forma del verbo
irregolare
▪ Esempio: We **went** to the cinema last night.
o Formula Negativa: Soggetto + did not (didn't) + Verbo base
(1ª forma!)
▪ Esempio: He **didn't eat** breakfast.
o Formula Interrogativa: Did + Soggetto + Verbo base (1ª
forma!)?
▪ Esempio: **Did** they **see** the match?
• Verbo 'to be' (essere): Fa eccezione, non usa did.
o Formula Affermativa: Soggetto + was / were
▪ Esempio: I **was** tired. / They **were** at home.
o Formula Negativa: Soggetto + was not (wasn't) / were not
(weren't)
▪ Esempio: She **wasn't** ready.
o Formula Interrogativa: Was / Were + Soggetto?
▪ Esempio: **Were** you happy?

Quando si usa:

1. Azioni completate nel passato: L'azione è iniziata e finita nel passato.


a. Shakespeare **wrote** "Hamlet".
2. Con espressioni di tempo passate: yesterday, last week, ...ago, in
2010.
a. I saw her **three weeks ago**.
2. I Futuri

Diverse forme a seconda del contesto e dell'intenzione.

a) Be Going To

Per intenzioni/piani e previsioni basate su prove.

Come si forma:

• Formula Affermativa: Soggetto + am/is/are + going to + Verbo base


o Esempio: I **am going to study** harder.
• Formula Negativa: Soggetto + am/is/are + not + going to + Verbo
base
o Esempio: He **is not going to come**.
• Formula Interrogativa: Am/Is/Are + Soggetto + going to + Verbo
base?
o Esempio: **Are** you **going to watch** the game?

Quando si usa:

1. Piani e Intenzioni: Decisioni già prese.


a. We **are going to move** to a new house next month.
2. Previsioni basate su un'evidenza: Qualcosa sta per accadere e ne vedo i
segni.
a. Look at those clouds! It **is going to rain**.

b) Will

Per decisioni spontanee, previsioni generiche, promesse e offerte.

Come si forma:

• Formula Affermativa: Soggetto + will ('ll) + Verbo base


o Esempio: I **will have** a coffee.
• Formula Negativa: Soggetto + will not (won't) + Verbo base
o Esempio: She **won't be** late.
• Formula Interrogativa: Will + Soggetto + Verbo base?
o Esempio: **Will** you **help** me?

Quando si usa:

1. Decisioni Spontanee: Prese nel momento in cui si parla.


a. (Al ristorante) I think **I'll have** the pizza.
2. Previsioni e Opinioni Personali: Spesso con I think, I hope, probably.
a. I think it **will be** a difficult match.
3. Promesse e Offerte:
a. I **will** always **love** you. (Promessa)
b. That bag looks heavy. **I'll help** you. (Offerta)

c) Present Continuous for Future Arrangements

Per programmi futuri certi e definiti (appuntamenti, prenotazioni).

Come si forma:

• Formula Affermativa: Soggetto + am/is/are + Verbo base + -ing


o Esempio: I **am meeting** John at 8 PM.
• Formula Negativa: Soggetto + am/is/are + not + Verbo base + -ing
o Esempio: They **aren't coming** to the party.
• Formula Interrogativa: Am/Is/Are + Soggetto + Verbo base + -ing?
o Esempio: **Is** she **leaving** tomorrow?

Quando si usa:

1. Appuntamenti e accordi fissati: Eventi personali già organizzati.


a. He **is flying** to London next Tuesday. (Ha già il biglietto).

d) Present Simple for Future Events

Per orari ufficiali e programmi stabiliti (mezzi di trasporto, eventi pubblici).

Come si forma: (Come un normale Present Simple)

• Formula Affermativa: Soggetto + Verbo base (+ -s/-es alla 3ª


pers. sing.)
o Esempio: The train **leaves** at 9 AM.
• Formula Negativa: Soggetto + do/does not + Verbo base
o Esempio: The concert **doesn't start** until 10.
• Formula Interrogativa: Do/Does + Soggetto + Verbo base?
o Esempio: What time **does** the film **begin**?

Quando si usa:

1. Orari e Programmi Ufficiali: Eventi che non dipendono dalla nostra volontà.
a. My flight **arrives** in New York at 5 PM.
