4. Esecuzione dei test
4.1 Audiometria Tonale (VA)
a sentirlo.
Somministrare toni puri a 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000 Hz quindi a 500, 250 e 125 Hz.
trebbe sbagliare a rispondere poiché insicuro su cosa “dovrebbe sentire”.
paziente risponde in modo chiaro.
a sentirlo.
passare all’altro orecchio.

4. Performing tests
4.1 Pure Tone Audiometry (AC)
Pure Tone Audiometry represents the basic test of auditory investigation aiming at evaluating the
auditory function and assessing the hearing threshold. The term hearing threshold indicates the min-
imum level perceived by the test subject.
The test is performed by administering pure tones using the included earphones (Air Conduction – AC).
Threshold estimation can be done either for one ear and then for the other, for all tones, or on both
sides for each tone.
The R07A can specify the AC loss but cannot distinguish between abnormality in the conductive
mechanism and sensorineural mechanism.
The patient should sit at a distance of at least 1 m from the device.
Before perform the test, eliminate any obstructions which will interfere with the placement of the
earphone cushions on the ear (e.g. hair, eyeglasses, rings).
Place the right headphone (identified by red color on the transducer) on the right side and the left
(identified by blue color on the transducer) on the left.
Ensure that the cushions are clean to avoid any potential infection’s transmission.
Adjust the headband of the headphones sitting on the two metallic bars, to achieve the correct pres-
sure on the ear and the correct alignment of transducer to ear canal.
Instruct the patient, before performing the test, to signal pressing the pushbutton (or to raise his/her
hand) when he/she hears a sound, and to keep the pushbutton depressed (or his/her hand up) as long
as he/she hears it.
Threshold determination: The test begins at 1000 Hz on the patient’s better ear.
Present pure tones at 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000 Hz then 500, 250 and 125 Hz*.
Start presenting the tone at a level loud enough to ensure audibility. The patient will thus be able to
identify the type of signal to be expected exactly and give clear responses.
Should levels close to threshold be used when starting the test, the patient may fail to re-
spond as he/she is unsure of what he/she should hear. Should the level prove insufficient
to elicit clear responses, increase the level until the patient responds reliably.
The true pure tone test threshold corresponds to the level evoking patient’s response in
50% of presentations.
Avoid any noisy environments because background noise can produce false test results, especially at
lower frequencies.
40
4.2 Hugson-Westlake Auto-threshold (AC)
The test, controlled by the patient’s pushbutton according to the Hughson-Westlake method, pro-
vides a modified and abbreviated version of the ISO 8253-1 standard for recording automatic AC
threshold without masking.
This test is especially used for industrial audiometry and hearing conservation programs.
Hughson Westlake is an automatic pure tone test procedure. Threshold is defined as 2 out of 3 correct
responses at a certain level in a 5 dB increase and 10 dB decrease test procedure. The Hughson West-
lake method is used to obtain pure tone thresholds automatically.
How perform the test: Test patient must be instructed to keep his/her pushbutton pressed as long as
he perceives the tone and release it as soon as the tone is no longer heard.
To activate the Auto-threshold test please refer to paragraph 5.2 Setup menu.
Once activated, entering the Menu you can select the test pressing F2.
The screen will display the test interface.
Familiarisation
Before starting the test, you can perform a familiarisation to train the patient.
Use the buttons as described on the paragraph 3.2 to act the familiarization process: present a tone
at 1000 Hz which can easily be perceived (i.e. 50 dB) If necessary, increase with steps of 10 dB until the
tone is clearly perceived.
If the familiarisation process is successfully completed, you can start the test pressing F1.
Threshold Determination
The hearing threshold is defined as the lowest level at which at least 50% of the stimuli elicit a re-
sponse. This threshold is found by the following procedure.
1) Present a tone which is 10 dB lower than the level at which familiarisation was finished.
2) Decrease the level in steps of 10 dB until response fails.
3) Increase the level in steps of 5 dB until the subject responds again.
4) Repeat 2) and 3) two or three times until the threshold appears at the same level to at least 50% of
presentations.
The time intervals in between the stimuli should be varied to prevent the patient predicting a pattern
to the stimulations.
5) Change to the next frequency and repeat the procedure until all frequencies are measured. Repeat
the procedure at 1000 Hz. If the difference to the previously found threshold is then 5dB or less pro-
ceed to test the other ear. If the difference is 10 dB or greater, repeat the test at the other frequencies,
until agreement within 5 dB has been obtained.
6) Proceed until both ears have been tested.

6. Care and maintenance
Switch off the device and disconnect the power plug before cleaning!
Always disconnect the mains conductor during the cleaning process, and be careful that no fluid
enters inside of the device or the accessories; no alcohol or spirits should be used. The instrument
requires cleaning the housing with a damp cloth (do not use aggressive cleaning agents); absolutely
avoid the penetration of liquids.
It is recommended that parts which are in direct contact with the patient (e.g. earphone cushions) are
subjected to standard disinfecting procedure between patients.
After each test, it is necessary to disinfect the headset cushion before use on a new patient. This in-
cludes physically cleaning and use of a recognised disinfectant. Individual manufacturer’s instruction
should be followed for use of this disinfecting agent to provide an appropriated level of cleanliness.
In case of use R07A with insert earphones, never insert or in any way use the insert headset without a
new clean non defect test tip supplied by RESONANCE.
If the surface of the device or parts of it are contaminated, it can be cleaned using a soft cloth moist-
ened with a mild solution of water and dish washing cleaner or similar. The use of organic solvents and
aromatic oils must be avoided all the times.

Note: At 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the highest frequency range is applied
Note: These guidelines may not be applicable in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is influ-
enced by the absorbance and deflection of structures, objects and people.
a. The intensity of the fixed transmitter’s field such as radiophone (cellular/cordless) bases and land
mobiles, amateur radios, FM and AM radio and television, theoretically cannot be determined precise-
ly. To evaluate the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, a local electromagnetic
investigation should be considered. If the measured field intensity in which the R07A will be used, is
above the applicable conformity level of RF described above, the R07A should be under observation
to verify normal function. In case of anomalous function additional attention may be required, such as
changing position or orientation of the R07A.
b. Above the frequency range from 150 kHz to 80 MHz, the intensity of the field must be below 3 V / m.
R07A is for use in an electromagnetic environment in which irradiated RF interferences are con-
trolled. The clients or users can minimize electromagnetic interference by maintaining a minimal
distance between portable and mobile RF transmitters and R07A as indicated below, based on the
max output power of the communication devices.
Distance based on the frequency of transmitter m

mitter W d = 1,2√P d = 1,2√P d = 2,3√P
For those transmitters with a max nominal output power not mentioned above , the advised distance
in meters (m) can be estimated using the equation applicable to the frequency of the transmitter,
where P is the max output power in watt (W) according to the transmitter’s builder.
Note 1: at 80 MHz and 800 MHz, the distance applied refers to the highest range frequency

4. Test yapmak
4.1 Pure Tone Odyometrisi (AC)
The Hugh-

Pegel in 10 dB Schritten.

d = 1,2√P d = 1,2√P d = 2,3√P

tan tonos puros a 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000 Hz y 500, 250 y 125 Hz *.
can una respuesta.

inferior a 3 V / m.
