Before unpacking the unit:
. Cheek the gyro’s power requirement and make sure it matches
with the voltage of your airplane's electrical power supply.
2. The gyro should be handle with great care.
3, The gyro should not be tampered with or dropped onto the
ground,
4. The gyro should be installed on a Vibration-proof instrument
panei.

SETTING INSTRUCTIONS:
41. Pull the “caging knab’ a little bit and take the “locking pin” cut.
2. Insiall the gyre in the instrument panel using the screws
provided with the unit.e
Plug the gyro with cable (not supplied with the unit} and
connector to your airplane power source, but do not turn on yet.
. Adjust the airplane representation wings overlap to the 0
degree horizontal line by turning the “Adjustment knob”
5, Tum the power on. Within 5 seconds, pull the “ caging knob"
gently and smoothly all the way to the point and hold it for about
30 seconds, then gently release without any force and avoid
snapping back the knob.
CAUTION: **Caging knob” should be pulled smoothly, If there is
any difficulty in puiling out to the position at a time, simply release
it, and then pull again. A hard pull could damage the unit!
“H the caging has not been done in a timely manner and the rotor
already reaches its running speed, the caging will need to be done
slower and smoother.
»
6. Make sure the Warning flag has disappeared from view and
wait for about 3 minutes for the rotor to reach running speed. The
gyro is now ready to fly.
MAINTENANCE TIPS:
1, Save the “Locking pin” for future use. Always Jock the unit
before shipping.
2. Even though the gyro is cageable, it is safer to pull the whole
unit out before heavy aerobatic flying.
3. After fly circling and when the airplane is flying at level position,
recage the unit to eliminate the possible reading error from
circling.
4. Repeat steps no. 4 through 6 of Setting Instructions every time
before flying.
GYRO HANDLING
To prevent damage to the gyro, it should be transported to and
from the aircraft in it’s original shipping container. When this
procedure is impractical, the gyros should be hand-carried with
special care.
Gyros should never be removed while they are running or spinning
down. A gyro normafly operates between 20,000 te 24,000 rpm
and takes 10 or mare minutes to run down, If a gyro is removed
while it is running and if it is tilted more than 90 degrees, it will
develop a gimbal lock. The gimbal will tumble and: start to spin. If
gimbal lock occurs while the gyro is tuming, ihe gimbal may spin
fast enough to damage the gimbal bearings. Even though a gyrohag malfunctioned and is being removed from the aircraft, the gyro
should be treated with the same respect due a new one. It is easy
to think af'a gyro that has malfunctioned as one destined for the
scrap pile, This is not so. It can probably be fixed. It is therefore
very important that proper handling procedures also be used
during removal.
Gyro handling techniques are summarized as follows:
1. Keep the gyro in the original shipping container as long as
possibie or provide a well-padded, shock-absorbent container
for transporting the gyro.
2. Wait at least 10 minutes after removing electrical or vacuum
power from the aircraft and/or gyro before removing gyro. DO
NOT remove a gyro while it is running.
Lift gyro from the base and carry in an upright position.
. Handle the gyro with care at all times and avoid subjecting it io
shock or vibration.

Shipping Guidelines
A. Keep original shipping containers that the gyro instrument
is received in for future reshipment. Gyro instruments that
have been returned, have arrived improperly packaged,
and were found to have extensive bearing damage.
Proper packaging helps prevent this.
B. Cage the gyro instrument, if possible prior to packaging.
