WHAT IS PREPOSITION?

A preposition is a word or Preposisi adalah kata atau

group of words used before a kelompok kata yang digunakan
noun, pronoun, or noun sebelum kata benda, kata ganti,
phrase to show direction, atau frase kata benda untuk
time, place, location, spatial menunjukkan arah, waktu,
relationships, or to tempat, lokasi, hubungan

IN
We use in to talk about a place that is inside a bigger space, such as a box, a
house, a city or a country. (Kita menggunakan In untuk membicarakan tempat di
dalam ruangan yang besar seperti kotak, rumah, kota atau negara)
Contoh :
1. My grandmother was born in Sweden.
2. The children are playing in the park.
3. There's a bookshop in the shopping centre.

AT
We use at in many common phrases, especially when we are talking about a place for a
specific activity. ( Kita menggunakan at di frasa-frasa umum, khususnya Ketika kita sedang
membicarakan tentang tempat untuk aktifitas yang spesifik)
Contoh :
1. I'm at work.
2. The children are at school.
3. See you at the train station!
We also use at for addresses or exact positions. (Kita juga menggunakan at untuk
menyebutkan tempat-tempat atau posisi yang pasti.)
4. I live at 15 Craig Street.
5. He's waiting at the entrance.

ON
We use on to talk about location on a surface.
Contoh :
The books are on the desk.; We live on the fifth floor ; There are pictures on the wall.
We also use on for some types of public transport.
Contoh:
He's on the bus now; You can't make phone calls on a plane; They go to school on the train.
We also use on for lines (including rivers, borders, streets, etc.) and islands.
Contoh:
London is on the River Thames., There's a market on James Street.; I'd love to live on the Isle of Wight.

In digunakan untuk waktu jangka pajang, seperti bulan, tahun, musim, dan lain sebagainya.
Contoh : In the 18th century, In the first week of April

In digunakan untuk waktu yang akan datang.

Contoh: The train wil be leaving in a few minutes
Pola "in + a periode of time" dapat diikuti kata time, guna membuat jangka waktu sebuah
kegiatan menjadi lebih tegas.
Contoh: They are getting merried in six months' time / Mereka akan menikah dalam waktu enam
bulan lagi.

In digunakan untuk mengungkapkan lamanya suatu kegiatan berlangsung

Contoh : You must finish this task in two days / Kamu harus menyelesaikan tugas ini dalam dua hari.

ON

Digunakan untuk mengacu pada tanggal dan nama hari

Contoh :
On March 20th / pada tanggal 20 Maret
On Saturday / di hari Sabtu

Kata on + time dapat digunakan untuk menyatakan kejadian yang berlangsung

secara tepat waktu.

Contoh:
The train Fajar Utama Yogyakarta left on time / Kereta Fajar Utama Yogyakarta berangkat
tepat waktu.

AT

Jenis preposition of time ini digunakan saat ingin mengatakan

jam berapa atau keterangan waktu yang lebih spesifik.

Contoh :
At 5 o'clock / pada jam 5
At night / pada malam hari
At the moment / saat ini
At the same time / pada saat yang sama.
