PROCEDURE TEXT
Pengertian:
Procedure text adalah teks yang menjelaskan langkah-langkah atau cara melakukan sesuatu dengan
tujuan agar pembaca dapat mengikuti dan melakukan kegiatan tersebut dengan benar.
Ciri-ciri Procedure Text
1. Bersifat instruktif / informatif → memberi petunjuk cara melakukan sesuatu.
2. Teks biasanya menggunakan kalimat perintah / imperatif.
3. Urutannya jelas → langkah-langkah disajikan secara sistematis.
4. Bahasa yang digunakan jelas dan singkat, menggunakan kata kerja (verbs) aktif.
Struktur Procedure Text
1. Goal / Aim
o Menjelaskan tujuan atau hasil dari prosedur tersebut.
o Contoh: This text explains how to make a cup of tea.
(Teks ini menjelaskan cara membuat secangkir teh.)
2. Materials / Ingredients (jika diperlukan)
o Menyebutkan bahan atau alat yang diperlukan.
o Contoh: You need: tea bag, water, sugar, cup, and spoon.
3. Steps / Method
o Menjelaskan langkah-langkah secara urut.
o Gunakan kata kerja imperatif: add, pour, stir, boil, cut, etc.
o Contoh:
1. Boil water in a kettle.
2. Put the tea bag into the cup.
3. Pour hot water into the cup.
4. Add sugar and stir well.
5. Your tea is ready to serve.
Bahasa yang Digunakan
1. Imperative sentences → gunakan kata kerja di awal kalimat.
o Contoh: Boil the water, Cut the vegetables.
2. Simple present tense → untuk menyatakan fakta atau langkah yang berlaku umum.
3. Time/order connectors → first, then, next, after that, finally.
4. Adverbs / Adjectives → untuk memperjelas langkah, misal: carefully, slowly, until,
completely.
Contoh Procedure Text Singkat
Title: How to Make a Sandwich
Goal:
This text explains how to make a simple sandwich.
Materials:
Bread, lettuce, tomato, cheese, mayonnaise, knife.
Steps:
1. Take two slices of bread.
2. Spread mayonnaise on one slice.
3. Add lettuce, tomato, and cheese on top.
4. Cover with the other slice of bread.
5. Cut the sandwich in half. Your sandwich is ready to eat.
