PRISMA

Prisma adalah bangun ruang yang dibatasi oleh dua bidang segi-n beraturan sebagai sisi alas dan sisi
tutup, serta n bidang persegi panjang sebagai sisi tegak.

Penamaan sebuah prisma ditentukan sesuai banyaknya n sisi alas, yaitu prisma segi n beraturan.
Sebuah prisma memiliki ciri-ciri sebagai berikut yaitu :

1. Memiliki sisi alas dan tutup yang sebangun dan sejajar.

2. Memiliki sisi tegak yang tegak lurus dengan sisi sejajar.

Prisma segi empat Prisma segi lima Prisma segi tiga

Prisma Banyak Titik Sudut Banyak Rusuk Banyak Sisi

LUAS PERMUKAAN DAN VOLUME PRISMA

Luas Permukaan Prisma = Luas alas + Luas tutup + Luas selimut

= 2 x Luas alas + (a x t) + (b x t) + (c x t)

= 2 x Luas alas + ((a + b + c) x t)

Luas Permukaan Prisma = 2 x Luas alas + (keliling alas x tinggi prisma)

Luas selimut prisma = keliling alas x tinggi prisma

Volume prisma = luas alas x tinggi prisma

Contoh soal :

1. Perhatikan prisma segitiga siku-siku di bawah !

tentukan :
a. Panjang kerangka prisma
b. Luas permukaan
c. Volume prisma

Jawab :
ALAS CB2 = AB2 + AC2
= 42 + 32
= 16 + 9
= 25
CB = √25
CB =5
1 1
Luas alas =2×𝑎×𝑡 = 2 × 4 × 3 = 6 cm2

Keliling alas = a + b + c = 3 cm + 4 cm + 5 cm = 12 cm

Tinggi prisma = 8 cm

a. Panjang kerangka prisma = (2 x 4) + (2 x 3) + (2 x 5) + (3 x 8)

= 8 + 6 + 10 + 24
= 48 cm

b. Luas permukaan = (2 x luas alas) + (keliling alas x tinggi prisma)

= (2 x 6) + (12 x 8)
= 12 + 96
= 108 cm2

c. Volume = luas alas x tinggi prisma

= 6 cm2 x 8 xm
= 48 cm3

In a classic right prism, the top and bottom faces are required to be congruent, meaning they must have the same shape and size. If the top and bottom of a prism differed in shape, it would no longer be classified as a right prism as this would violate the geometric requirement for parallelism and congruence between the two bases. Such a structure would not conform to the definition of a prism because it would have non-uniform cross-sections along its height .

The relationship between the number of vertices (V), edges (E), and faces (F) in a polyhedron is given by Euler's formula: V - E + F = 2. For a pentagonal prism, the base has 5 vertices, and there are 2 bases, contributing 10 vertices total. The number of edges is the sum of the edges in the 2 pentagonal bases and the vertical edges, yielding 15 edges. The total number of faces, including the 2 pentagonal bases and the 5 rectangular lateral faces, is 7. Applying Euler's formula: 10 - 15 + 7 = 2, confirming the relationship .

To calculate the volume of water a swimming pool with varying depth can hold, consider the average depth of the pool. Since the depth ranges from 1.2m to 2.8m, calculate the average depth: (1.2 + 2.8) / 2 = 2.0m. Then, calculate the volume using the average depth and the pool's length and width: 25m * 6m * 2.0m = 300 m³. To convert cubic meters to liters, multiply by 1000, giving 300,000 liters .

A hexagonal prism has a base in the shape of a hexagon, which means it has 6 sides, resulting in 6 lateral rectangular faces, totaling 8 faces (including the two hexagonal bases). It has 12 vertices and 18 edges. In contrast, a triangular prism has a triangular base with 3 sides, resulting in 3 lateral faces and a total of 5 faces. It has 6 vertices and 9 edges. These differences in faces, vertices, and edges are due to the different shapes and number of sides of their respective bases .

To determine the cardboard area needed for an open box with open sides, calculate the surface area excluding the open sides. If the box is rectangular, calculate the area of the base and the combined area of the closed sides. If only the top is open, for a box with length l, width w, and height h, the area is l*w + 2*(l*h + w*h). This accounts for the base and the four side faces' areas .

To calculate the volume of a prism with a rhombus as its base, you need to determine the area of the rhombus first. The area of a rhombus is 1/2 times the product of its diagonals. For diagonals measuring 6 cm and 8 cm, the area is 1/2 * 6 * 8 = 24 cm². The volume of the prism is then calculated by multiplying the area of the base by the height of the prism. Therefore, the volume is 24 cm² * 10 cm = 240 cm³ .

The surface area of a prism is calculated using the formula 2 times the area of the base plus the product of the perimeter of the base and the height of the prism. For a triangular prism, you first need to determine the area of the triangular base and the perimeter of the triangle. For example, if the sides of the base are 3 cm, 4 cm, and 5 cm, and the height of the prism is 8 cm, the area of the base would be 1/2 * 3 * 4 = 6 cm². The perimeter of the base is 3 + 4 + 5 = 12 cm. Thus, the surface area is 2 * 6 + 12 * 8 = 108 cm² .

A prism is defined by having two parallel and congruent bases that are connected by lateral faces that are rectangles. In a pentagonal prism, the bases are pentagons, meaning there are 5 lateral rectangular faces. This prism will have a total of 7 faces, 10 vertices, and 15 edges, as the number of lateral faces is equal to the number of sides in the base pentagon .
