3. MATERI
PROCEDURE TEKS
1. Definition of Procedure Text.
Procedure text is a text which describes how something is achieved through a
sequence of actions or steps. It explains how people perform different processes in a
sequence of steps. There are different types of procedure texts serving different
purposes. Procedures can instruct how to do a particular activity or help
people teaching appropriate behavior. Procedure normally takes the form of
directions or instructions.
2. Social Function of Procedure Text.
The purpose of procedure text is to tell the reader how to do or make something. The
information is presented in a logical sequence of events which is broken up into small
sequenced steps.
3. Generic Structure of Procedure Text
(1) Goal (Maksud atau tujuan)
Goal atau aim berarti tujuan dalam pembuatan atau peng- operasian sesuatu.
(2) Material Needed (Materi / alat / bahan yang dibutuhkan)
Materials adalah bahan-bahan yang diperlukan untuk melakukan sesuatu. Ada
3 jenis Procedural Text yang tidak menggunakan bagian materials. Perhatikan
penjelasan berikut ini.
Pertama, Procedure Text yang menjelaskan bagaimana bekerja atau cara
melakukan instruksi secara manual contohnya, How to use video game, the
computer, the tape recorder, the fax, dan sebagainya.
Kedua, Procedural Text yang menginstruksikan bagai-mana melakukan
aktivitas-aktivitas tertentu serta peraturannya. Contohnya, road safety
rules, video game rules, dan sebagainya.
Ketiga, Procedural Text yang berhubungan dengan sifat atau kebiasaan
manusia. Contohnya, How to live happily, atau How to succeed, dan
sebagainya.
(3) Methods or Steps (Metode / langkah-langkah)
Bagian ini memuat langkah-langkah atau urutan yang harus dilakukan
agartujuan dapat tercapai. Sebagai catatan, pada Procedure Text berupa How
to biasanya tidak menyebutkan (menyertakan) [Link] dibutuhkan
(material needed).
4. Bentuk-Bentuk Procedural Text
Procedural Text dapat digunakan dalam bentuk recipes/ cookbooks, craft instructions,
game rules, science experiments/ report, dan sebagainya.
5. Significant Lexico-grammatical Features
a. Menggunakan simple present tense.
b. Menggunakan pola kalimat imperative (perintah), misalnya, cut, don’t mix, dan
sebagainya;
c. Menggunakan penomoran (numbering to indicate sequence), firstly, secondly,
next, then, dan sebagainya
d. Menggunakan action verbs, misalnya turn, put, don’t, mix, dan sebagainya;
e. Menggunakan connectives (kata penghubung) untuk mengurutkan kegiatan,
misalnya then, while, dan sebagainya.
f. Menggunakan adverbials ( kata keterangan ) untuk menyatakan secara rinci
waktu, tempat, serta cara yang akurat, misalnya for five minutes, 2 hours, dan
sebagainya.
g. Menjelaskan bahan bahan yang ada, walaupun tidak harus selalu ada.
6. Read a number of procedure texts meaningfully and fluently, with accurate
pronunciation, word stress, and intonation.

SMS, or Short Messaging Service, messages are commonly referred to as text
messages. The act of sending an SMS is called "texting." To send a text message, or
SMS, from a cell phone may be straightforward or may be a bit complex, depending
on the cell phone model. Things you need : Sms-enable cell phone. Instruction :
1. Clik the "Message" button, or click Application > Message > Create Message.
2. Enter the phone number or email address of the SMS recipient.

message and data. However this device can’t work until the SIM card is inserted.
When inserting the SIM Card to cell phone, make sure that the cell phone has been switched off and

First of all, press the locking catch and slide the cover then lift it off the phone.
After that, push two catches in the opposite directions and remove the battery.
Next, slide the SIM card carefully into the slot and make sure that the golden connect arson are facing
