Issue:

Github by default not automatically index your profile by just username, but by using (Github Special repo) when search @username/username in search engine or using the contents or headers of the special repo Readme or any other repositories contents or headers if any

Simplest:

Search your profile using @username/username in search engine after creating profile repo (Github Special repo) , then it should index because it is Github built in way for indexing your profile.

Recommended:

Create a Github special repo (if not already) with name same as your username username which is special repo name considered Github profile repo, and in README.md of this special repo(special understood by github), add your profile data.

For searching with just your username or name:

in special repo Readme, use specific format to write the profile details in order to include the keywords you want to use for searching in order to index your profile when you search using:

# (first level header) - whatever keyword you want to search by consider keeping unique(phrase or word) if want at the top without doing anything extra for your account indexing(your name or username or anything)

## (second level header) - title (keyword) for section of the profile

Content for the section (paragraph)

Add as many sections as you want for profile details

For maintaining your profile indexing at top in search result:

• Keep you active and contributing to the respos, discussions, and hence keep adding contents about in your account which will be indexed as per above SEO

• link or post the urls of your github profile or repositories across other websites

• if you have own website, then can index whatever urls or corresponding stuffs you want to index by linking the urls to your website using Google Search Console called backlinking(which will index Github stuffs like profile or repository or etc.), same thing happen when share or post links or urls over websites....

Well I came here with different expectations regarding my own problem but stayed for the valuable information. My problem is that my profile does not show up when I try to go to my profile link from an incognito page. When I try to go to https://github.com/theburcu/ this link, it gives 404 error.

I researched about this on the forum, people say they contacted the Github Support Team. Do you guys have any information about this issue? Is this a bug or is there something wrong with my profile settings?

From my experience, one effective way to increase the visibility of your GitHub profile is by getting more external links pointing to it, known as backlinks. I tried different methods, like sharing my profile on social media and adding the link to my blog, but the most impactful was getting crowd links.

Crowd links are when people mention your GitHub profile in different online forums, blogs, or websites. These mentions create natural backlinks that can improve your profile's search engine ranking. I found this method not only effective but also quite affordable.

I got my crowd links from WebDruids, where they offered a good deal of around 8 USD per link. This investment significantly boosted my GitHub profile's visibility on Google. After adding these crowd links, my profile started showing up in search results, which was a big win for me.

I have the same problem, i think you should do some SEO.

If you mention or link to your GitHub profile from other social media platforms or websites, it significantly increases the chances of being indexed by Google and other search engines.

The truth is simple: GitHub doesn’t “push” your profile to Google — Google needs signals to crawl it.
Two things work reliably:

Activity on GitHub (following people, a couple of comments, small commits).
This refreshes your profile and usually triggers a crawl.

At least one public backlink to your GitHub profile (LinkedIn, personal site, anywhere).
As soon as Google sees a link pointing to it, the indexing follows.

Everything else (profile README, keywords, etc.) is secondary.
A bit of activity + one backlink is usually enough for your profile to appear within a few days.

I recently had the same issue, in which my Github profile was not showing on google. I fixed this by being more active on github; I started following several people and started talking in several discussions (only 2). After a day my profile could be found on google. Good luck
