Here's what's happening under the hood with that What usually causes thisWhen Git successfully negotiates and uploads objects ( The most common causes for this server-side crash are:
Safe read-only checks (No history changes)Before trying another push, run these local read-only commands to inspect what payload 1. Inspect the commit size and touched filesCheck if your commit inadvertently bundled heavy binary assets or an unexpected number of files: git show --stat c215d01b1fa3823a4a13838114f737b0d9a63e7c2. Scan for untracked large blobsVerify if any individual object inside your commit is pushing limits or missing LFS pointers: git diff-tree --no-commit-id --name-only -r c215d01 | xargs -I {} ls -lh {}3. Body
I'm experiencing repeated Git push failures when trying to push a commit to the main branch of my repository.
Repository: https://github.com/GuitarHero24/novatoon
The push uploads the Git objects successfully, but GitHub rejects the branch update with an Internal Server Error.
Error message
remote: Internal Server Error
! HEAD:refs/heads/main [remote rejected] (Internal Server Error)
error: failed to push some refs
Git information
Local commit: c215d01b1fa3823a4a13838114f737b0d9a63e7c
Remote main: 6d76231fba3f8099faba43bcbd14b52e02d16ef5
Branch: main
Local working tree: Clean
Local branch: Ahead by one commit
Connection: GitHub HTTPS
Failed attempts
Both attempts occurred on November 4, 2026:
10:35:01 UTC — Request ID: 133F:3512ED:14D21EF:1EF335A:6AEB0A54
10:45:37 UTC — Request ID: 1328:9FCFE:152EE57:1F72135:6AEB0CD0
Troubleshooting performed
Verified the local commit, parent, tree, and clean working tree.
Confirmed git ls-remote works successfully.
Confirmed the remote main branch remains at the previous commit.
Attempted one controlled retry, which received the same server error.
Submitted GitHub Support ticket #4950000, but it was closed with a recommendation to use community resources.
Question
Has anyone encountered this GitHub server-side push rejection before? Are there any safe repository-side checks or workarounds I should try without rewriting commit history or using force push?
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you!
