I am seeing the same issue in another private GitHub.com repository. The workflow is enabled on the default branch, and both workflow_dispatch and push-triggered workflows run successfully. However, GitHub does not create any event=schedule run objects. Observed timeline:
Troubleshooting performed:
The workflow was moved from: to: The newly registered workflow also created no scheduled runs. This appears to be a scheduler event-creation issue rather than a failure inside the workflow job. Is there a way for GitHub staff to check or reset the backend scheduler registration for affected repositories? |

Discussion Details
Native GitHub Actions schedules create no runs in a private GitHub.com repository, while manual and push runs succeed. Private repository, commit and run identifiers are omitted.
On 2 November 2026, the repository-wide runs API returned zero event=schedule runs through 17:46 UTC (18:46 CET). The initial 16:00 CET schedule and later probes created no runs.
Verified: repository enabled, private, not archived or a fork; workflows on default branch main; Actions/workflows enabled with all actions allowed; cron-changing account active and associated with commits. Cron changed through normal Git pushes without skip annotations, and workflows disabled/re-enabled. Public status showed Actions operational.
A fresh secret-free workflow registered by normal push at 16:12 UTC succeeded on push. Equivalent minimal reproduction:
Extended observation: the secret-free five-minute UTC diagnostic remained enabled 16:42-17:46 UTC (64 minutes). Its workflow-specific runs API returned zero schedule runs at the end. We then disabled it. No checkout, secrets, external services or job conditions. Other probes tried UTC and IANA-timezone schedules.
We understand cron may be delayed/dropped under load. This shows non-triggering during observation, but does not establish the underlying cause. Manual/push success is not proof cron works.
The personal account Support portal says "Technical support not included" and offers no Actions technical-support category. Can GitHub staff advise how to inspect/reset schedule registrations, investigate account/repository restrictions, or arrange a private diagnostic channel? We want to retain native scheduling.
Resubmitted with the UI template because API-created discussion #211879 was automatically closed for format, not resolved.
