Currently to perform an upgrade of GHES we have to schedule long downtime/maint windows where people can't operate or work. It would be amazing for GitHub to support a long standing pull factor of GitLab for us which is 0/low downtime with incremental upgrade paths.
I know HA is available for server owners to configure but there is downtime still and it seems the approach for clustering is a bit confused.
