This email means your organization was removed from the Enterprise account, so billing and enterprise controls were automatically removed and you were downgraded to a free plan.

For GitHub Enterprise, this usually happens for one of these reasons:

What you can do now

1. Check enterprise billing status

2. Re-add the organization

3. Restore plan
   If billing lapsed:

• You may not have the required Enterprise owner permissions

What to do (in order)

1. Check Copilot status in Enterprise billing
   • Go to: https://github.com/enterprises
   • Open your enterprise → Billing & licensing
   • Confirm Copilot Business/Enterprise is listed
2. Wait for provisioning (important)
   • If you upgraded “yesterday”, wait up to 24–48 hours
   • Copilot features often lag behind enterprise activation
3. Check identity / verification banner
   • Go to Enterprise Settings → Policies → Copilot
   • If “Verify identity” appears but 404s, it’s usually a backend mismatch
4. Try direct Copilot page
   • https://github.com/settings/copilot
5. Confirm role
   • You must be Enterprise Owner, not just org admin

If it still doesn’t work

This is very likely a backend provisioning issue. At that point:

  • Enterprise name
  • Screenshot (your “Explore Enterprise” popup)

Nothing is “wrong” with your account — this is a common delay/misconfiguration after upgrading from Team → Enterprise, especially around Copilot licensing activation.

To enable GitHub Copilot for an Enterprise account, you need to be an enterprise owner or organization admin, and the enterprise must have an active Copilot Business or Copilot Enterprise subscription.

Steps to enable Copilot in Enterprise:

1. Go to your Enterprise account on GitHub

5. Select Verify payment method (this activates Copilot for the enterprise) 

After activation:
