Version 3.5.3: drop bitstring dependency (broken by bitstring 5.0)

bitstring 5.0 removed the bytes= initialiser of BitArray, so every
GetStatus failed with "Exactly one initialiser keyword is required" and
Home Assistant marked all boards unavailable. bitstring was only used to
read the temperature (2 bytes) - it is now decoded directly as signed
16 bit value (identical for positive values, negative temperatures were
wrong before). _ToDataBits keeps its result without bitstring.

Removed bitstring from setup.py, compile.sh and the workflows; tests for
negative temperatures and for importing without bitstring.

Test empty replies from the board

The emulated board can close the connection without answering. The
async path must retry exactly once and then fail without parsing the
empty reply (before 1bc5963: IndexError, no retry); the sync path
fails after one request.
