The Great Reading Adventure was developed in 2014 by the Maricopa County Library District with support from the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The Library of Virginia is evaluating the Great Reading Adventure (GRA) software with six Virginia public libraries and is sharing all developed resources via this repository. All original GRA material within this repository will be labeled as such and maintains its original MIT License (MIT). Newly developed code or pages created by the Library of Virginia are available for use under a GNU GPL v2.0 license. Artwork found in .jpg, .png, or other image files retain the copyright or registered trademark status set by iREAD.
