NOUN (nom)
C’est quoi ? → Une personne, une chose, un lieu, une idée.
Exemples :
• person → teacher, student, doctor
• thing → table, phone, idea
• place → school, park, city
Rôle dans la phrase :
• Sujet → The cat sleeps.
• Objet → I eat an apple.
• Complément → I like music.
ASTUCE :
→ Si tu peux mettre a / an / the / my / your devant = c’est souvent un noun.
Ex : the car, an apple, my school.
2. VERB (verbe)
C’est quoi ? → Une action ou un état.
Exemples :
• action → run, eat, write, study
• état → be, seem, feel, have
Rôle :
→ Il dit ce que fait le sujet.
Ex : He runs fast. / She is happy.
ASTUCE :
→ Si tu peux mettre to devant (to eat, to play) → c’est souvent un verbe à l’infinitif.
3. ADJECTIVE (adjectif)
C’est quoi ? → Il décrit un nom.
Exemples :
• a big car
• a beautiful girl
• an old man
Position :
• Avant le nom → a red apple
• Après “be / look / feel” → She is smart.
ASTUCE :
→ “What kind of (quel genre de)?” → la réponse est souvent un adjectif.
Ex : What kind of car? → a fast car.
4. ADVERB (adverbe)
C’est quoi ? → Il décrit un verbe, un adjectif, ou un autre adverbe.
Souvent finit par -ly
(ex : quickly, slowly, beautifully, really)
Exemples :
• Il décrit un verbe → He runs quickly.
• Il décrit un adjectif → She is really beautiful.
• Il décrit un autre adverbe → He drives very carefully.
ASTUCE :
→ Si tu veux dire comment on fait quelque chose → tu dois utiliser un adverbe.
Ex : She sings beautifully (Comment elle chante ? → beautifully)
5. –ING FORM (le verbe + ing)
La forme V + ing (ex : playing, eating, going) a plusieurs utilisations :
Après certaines prépositions :
→ I’m good at swimming.
→ He left without saying goodbye.
Comme sujet (nom)
→ Reading is fun. (= Lire est amusant)
→ Smoking is bad for you.
Après certains verbes
→ enjoy, like, love, hate, stop, avoid, finish, suggest, mind
Ex : I enjoy reading. / She stopped smoking.
Forme continue (progressive)
→ I am eating. / They were playing.
(= je suis en train de manger / ils étaient en train de jouer)
ASTUCE pour –ing :
• Si tu veux dire “en train de faire” → be + Ving
• Si le verbe vient après une préposition ou certains verbes → Ving

Quand tu as une préposition (of, at, in, on, about, for, without, before, after...) → le verbe
qui vient après doit être en -ing.
Exemples :

Astuce :
Après toute préposition, mets le verbe en –ing, jamais “to + verbe” !

Certains verbes sont toujours suivis d’un verbe en -ing (pas “to + verbe”) !

3. Après des expressions avec VERBES + PRÉPOSITION
Quand un verbe est suivi d’une préposition, le verbe suivant est en –ing.
Exemples :
• He is interested in learning English.
• She insisted on coming with us.
• They are thinking of moving abroad.
• I’m tired of waiting.
• She apologized for being late.
Astuce :
Tu vois une préposition = toujours -ing après.
4. Après “STOP”
Ce verbe change de sens selon la forme :

Retiens :
• “stop -ing” = arrêter une activité

5. En tant que NOM (sujet ou complément)
Tu peux utiliser le verbe en -ing comme un nom (gérondif).
Exemples :
• Swimming is good for you.
• Learning English is fun.
• I like reading.
• Driving at night is dangerous.
Astuce :
Si le verbe devient “le nom d’une activité”, → utilise -ing.
