Exercices C1 – III :
Ex : Soient les trinômes f et g tel que f(x) = 2x²+4x – 5/2
g(x) = -x² + x + 1
1) Trouver les formes canoniques sans le théorème.
f(x) = 2x² + 4x – 5/2
= 2(x² + 2x – 5/4) avec (x+1)² = x² + 2x + 1
(x+1)² -1 = x² + 2x
= 2((x+1)² – 1 – 5/4)
= 2((x+1)² – 9/4)
= 2(x+1)² – 9/2 avec α = -1 et β = -9/2
g(x) = -x² + x + 1
= -(x² – x – 1) on reconnaît (x-1/2)² = x² – x + 1/4
(x-1/2)² – 1/4 = x² - x
donc g(x) = -((x-1/2)² – 1/4 – 1)
= -(x-1/2)² + 5/4
2) Trouver les formes canoniques avec le théorème.
D’après le théorème, α = -b/2a = -4/4 = -1 et β = f(α) = f(-1) = 2 – 4
– 5/2 = -9/2 donc f(x) = 2(x+1)² - 9/2
D’après le théorème, α = -b/2a = -1/-2 = 1/2 et β g(α) = g(1/2) = -
1/4 + 1/2 + 1 = 5/4 donc g(x) = -(x-1/2)² + 5/4
f(x)=2x²-6x+4
= 2(x² – 3x + 2) avec x² – 3 = (x-3/2)² - 9/4
= 2((x-3/2)² – 9/4 + 2)
= 2(x-3/2)² – 9/2 + 4
= 2(x-3/2)² – 1/2
D’après le théorème, α = -b/2a = 6/4 = 3/2
β = f(α) = f(3/2) = 2*3/2² – 6*3/2 + 4
= 18/4 – 36/4 + 4
= - 18/4 + 4
= -9/2 + 4
= -1/2
Exercice 34 p 88 :
1. f(x) = 2(x+3)² = 2(x² + 6x + 9) <=> f(x) = 2x² + 12x + 18
Donc c’est un trinôme (a = 2, b = 12 et c = 18)
2. g(x) = (2x – 5)² – 4x²
(2x -5)² = 4x² – 20x + 25 <=> g(x) = 4x² – 20x + 25 – 4x² = -20x +
25
Ce n’est pas un trinôme (c’est une fonction affine)
3. h(x) = x3 + 2x + (1 – x)(x – 2)²
(x – 2)² = x² – 4x + 4. (1 – x)(x² – 4x + 4) = -x3 + 5x² – 8x + 4.
= 5x² – 6x + 4
Donc oui, c’est un trinôme (a = 5, b = -6 et c = 4)
Exercice 22 p 87 :
1. f(x) = x² + x – 1
Δ = b² – 4ac = 1 – 4 = -3 < 0 donc f n’a pas de racines
2. g(x) = 2x² – x + 3
Δ = b² – 4ac = 1 – 24 = - 23 < 0 donc g n’a pas de racines
3. h(x) = -5x² + 4x + 3
Δ = b² – 4ac = 16 - (-60) = 76 > 0 donc h a deux racines
4. j(x) = x² – V2x + 7
Δ = b² – 4ac = 2 – 28 = -26 < 0 donc j n’a pas de racine.
Exercice 25 :
1. 3x² + 4x + 5 = 0
Δ = 16 – 3*4*5 = 16 – 60
Δ = -44 < 0 donc S = ensemble vide
2. -3x² + 11x + 4 = 0
Δ = 121 + 48 = 169 > 0 donc il y a deux solutions.

3. 2x² – 2x – 3 = 0

Exercice 27 p 87 :
4. f(x) = 3x² + x + 4
Δ = b² – 4ac = 1 – 48 = -47 < 0 donc il n’y a pas de factorisations

6. f(x) = x² – x – 1
Δ = b² – 4ac = 1 + 4 = 5 > 0 donc 2 factorisations possibles.
