Methodology
THE WH-QUESTIONS
A medical article can be long and complicated.
Before you start translating, you must understand the main ideas.
Simple questions can help you identify the main elements of an article.
They are called “the WH-questions”
WHAT: What is the article about?
WHO: Is it about one person? A group of people?
WHERE: Does the text talk about a specific country? A
region?
WHEN: Does the text refer to a period of time?
WHY: Does the text mention the cause of the problem?
LOOKING FOR KEYWORDS
To understand a text, you need to find the most relevant information and
look for keywords. You can do it in 2 different ways:
• Build a mind map
• Underline / highlights important phrases or words
This technique will help you:
• build vocabulary
• find the main ideas of an article
understand the structure and the global understanding of a text
Grammar
THE -ING FORM
