Communication
vocabulaire.
How to influence people and win friends, Dale Carnegie
Saint Exupéry a écrit :
To change somebody’s behavior, change the level of respect she receives by giving her a ne
reputation to live up to. Act as though the trait you are trying to inuence is already one of the
person’s outstanding characteristics. Pygmalion effect.
choisiras tes affaires. La petite, responsabilisée adore ca.
Chap29Favoriser le progres en apportant une nouvelle perspective.
Coincé face une complexité, l’autre hesite. On lui que c’est tres simple, et que vu ses
capacités il aura peu de soucis. Parler de talent, De competences insoupconnées.
Tony Robbins on communication
Eyes contact, humour, mouvements (marcher un peu), supports (dessin, image,
demonstration)
The first human need is certainty.
Removing negatives also tends to make sentences shorter and more to the point,
which leads to clearer and more effective writing.
Turn every negative words into positive:
Not now=later
I dont want to=I prefer something else
Turn every question into sentence.
How yo do it?= Maybe you do it like that. (as if we were assuming) Then answer will be
yes+explanation or no+explanation
Hypnotic Communication
Be the metronome with your voice, check how to move people toward Alpha or trance state
Imagination
A domain with no rules
Imagination de synthèse (Steve Jobs: “Creativity is Just Connecting Things”)
regarder video, lire, meeting, cuisiner etc) augmente l'imagination
According to the psychology studies, the most creative people pursue an expansive range of
experiences, which gives them the fuel for ideas.
Steve Jobs on imagination :
Simplicity is sophistication
Creative process : meticulous and detail oriented
Found that Indians respected way more instinct than intelligence. For Jobs, creativity was
most vibrant when it sprang from self-belief, intuition and spontaneity, rather than studied
analysis.
Thinking outside the box" may more accurately be understood as "Drawing from different
boxes."
Elon Musk on imagination :
If you go back say, 300 years, the things we take for granted today, you’d be burned at stake
for. Being able to fly. That’s crazy. Being able to see over long distances, being able to
communicate, having effectively with the Internet as a group mind of sorts, and having access
to all the world’s information instantly from almost anywhere on the earth. This stuff that
really would be magic – that would be considered magic in times past
Science fiction powered a lot his imagination.
Interdisciplinary Approach: Musk's ability to connect different fields and
draw inspiration from various disciplines sets him apart. He combines
knowledge from engineering, physics, computer science, and other fields to
develop innovative solutions. This interdisciplinary approach allows him to
think creatively and generate unique ideas.
Surrounding himself with visionaries.
Walt Disney on imagination :
Most dreamers die due to the pressure of social norms and burden
of economic production.
Create, playing with legos.
Kanye West on imagination
shouldn't be limited to one place of creativity. (music, design, livres etc)
Einstein on imagination
Einstein wrote in 1946, “A new type of thinking is essential if mankind is to survive
and move toward higher levels.”
The association of solved problems with those unsolved may throw new light on our
difficulties by suggesting new ideas. It is easy to find a superficial analogy which really
expresses nothing. But to discover some essential common features, hidden beneath a
surface of external differences, to form, on this basis, a new successful theory, is important
creative work”
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is
limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination
embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and
understand, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.”
Imagination enables us to envision new possibilities, while knowledge provides the
foundation upon which these ideas can be built and refined.
arts and literature are perhaps the most obvious domains where imagination reigns
supreme. Writers, painters, musicians, and filmmakers use their imaginative abilities
to create worlds that transcend the boundaries of reality
Science fiction and imagination
imagine futures greatly different from the present. Science fiction was born out of the realization
that future technoscientific advances could dramatically change the world.
Past research suggests that reading science fiction (sci-fi) correlates not only with a propensity
to think the impossible could become possible, but also with a tendency to say that morally
taboo actions could be permissible in some circumstances (Black, Capps, & Barnes, 2017)
Prior research has shown that exposure to sci-
fi in print (Mara & Appel, 2015) and film (Appel, Krause, Gleich, & Mara, 2016) makes
futuristic technology feel less eerie and more likable, relevant, and potentially useful.
Moreover,
there is correlational evidence that exposure to sci-fi relates to greater openness to
experience
(Fong, Mullin, & Mar, 2013; Stern, Robbins, Black, & Barnes, 2018), which has been
consistently associated with greater creativity (McCrae, 1987). Further, there is some
empirical
evidence that exposure to sci-fi enhances creativity directly: middle school students who had
been randomly assigned to watch a sci-fi film (vs. control) subsequently designed and
produced
robotic cross-country vehicles that received higher creativity product assessment scores
(Lin,
2014; see also Lin, Tsai, Chien, & Chang, 2013).
“science
fiction prototyping” (SFP; Johnson, 2011) is a method used to encourage creative thinking
for
product and service innovation by inventing sci-fi storyworlds within which to better identify,
prepare for, and create future trends and needs. SFP can be used for consumer product
innovation (Zheng & Callaghan, 2018), security (“threatcasting;” e.g., Vanatta & Johnson,
2018), human-computer interaction technology education (Jordan & Silva, 2019), and
creative
thinking more generally.
Given the imaginative content and technological focus of science fiction, it is
unsurprising that sci-fi readers, entrepreneurs, and scientists (Nature editorial, 2018) believe
exposure to the genre can encourage creativity. Following sci-fi plots requires counterfactual
thought (e.g., accepting that space travel is possible as a premise), or, if we suppose that
sci-fi
content may someday become reality, imagining could suppose what Byrne and Egan
(2004) call
“prefactual conditionals.” Such counterfactual/conditional reasoning relies on creativity
(Byrne,
2007; Roese, 1994) as well as cognitive effort (Byrne, 2016). In line with the idea that there
may
be a relationship between exposure to sci-fi and individual differences in counterfactual
thinking,
Black and colleagues (2017) found a positive correlation between lifetime exposure to sci-fi
and
both the belief that the impossible could become possible and the belief that immoral or
taboo
actions could sometimes be permissible.
“Anything you dream is fiction, and anything you accomplish is science; the whole
history of mankind is nothing but science fiction.” — Ray Bradbury
invention of the submarine and first expedition to the South Pole were born out of
the novels of author Jules Verne (1828-1905). Satellites were first imagined and
written about by the late Arthur C. Clarke (1917-2008).
Martin Cooper, credited as the “father of the mobile phone”, has even credited the Star Trek
communicator as an inspiration for his invention.
In another example, Neal Stephenson’s novel “Snow Crash” introduced the concept of a
“Metaverse,” a collective virtual shared space that exists alongside the physical reality. This
concept has been the blueprint for many virtual and augmented reality advancements.
Video Games and imagination:
games’ potential to nurture our imaginations refers to games that
provide a “mostly complete” experience.
Studies show a full mediation of the link between the frequency of playing video
games and creativity, through optimism: playing video games is positively associated
with higher optimism, which in turn is associated with more creativity in the
workplace.
creativity also plays an important part in our everyday life and is
practiced by virtually everyone: finding a new idea for a meal, writing a
poem or a song, decorating one's bedroom.
As the futurist Fred Polack put it “(We are) citizens of two worlds:
the present and the imagined. Out of this antithesis the future is
born.
When using imagination or thinking at the future, 2 brain capacities are
working:
1. constructive ability: imagine, build future scenario
2. Assessment ability: evalue the possibility of it happening
Hijack the number 2 and consciously put 1000%
Imagine as big as possible
Imagine as fast and as many as possible (you become better at what you
do a lot, imagining a lot of innovation will bring to imagine even more
and even better ones)

The writer of books of imagination in which problems of science and mind problems
generally find a solution, must, to be successful, be a voracious reader, and take
copious and voluminous notes of all he reads and all that is likely to have a
bearing upon the problems which he wants to solve.
imagination consists of this -- a wish that some invention may be achieved, and then
the detailed description of its achievement as though it had actually taken place.
The wish is father to the thought, says the old proverb.
The solution of all problems of the mind undoubtedly may claim
imagination for its mother.
Verne was able to intertwine his supreme sense of imagination and
creativity with a vast knowledge of and appreciation for science,
exploration, and technological innovation.
“Reality provides us with facts so romantic that imagination itself could add
nothing to them.”
environments in which his novels were themed: land, desert, air,
ice, water, earth inside, space and time
Utopias and imagination
four types: (a) the paradise, in which a happier life is described as simply existing
elsewhere; (b) the externally altered world, in which a new kind of life has been
made possible by an unlooked-for natural event; (c) the willed transformation, in
which a new kind of life has been achieved by human effort; (d) the technological
transformation, in which a new kind of life has been made possible by a technical
discovery.
