Recommandations importantes
Montage
par an :

General instructions
Fitting
- Make sure that the tow bar has not been damage during transport and it is the right reference for
the vehicle.
- Read the fitting instruction before starting and follow them very precisely during the fitting.
- Present the towbar under the car first to check if all points are right.
- If holes have to be drilled, check that no wires can be damaged, remove all soundproofing
material, clean and protect the drilled holes with an anticorrosive product.
- If the vehicle is equipped with special bumpers (sport or tuning parts…) first contact the technical
service of Boisnier to be sure that the tow bar can be fitted.
The towbar delivered is only for storage, the parts have to be disassembled!
Guarantee
- To know the [Link] weigth of your car, please refer to the Certificate of confirmety or contact your
dealer. The specifications of the towbar must not be exceeded. See formula on page 5.
- The tow bar has to be checked after 1.000 km and every year :
o All bolts should be checked and retightened if necessary
o Repair any damage to the paint finish
o Replace any damaged components
o Parts of the detachable tow bars must be kept well greased.
Use
- If the towing ball covers the number plate or the fog light, it must always be removed when no
trailer is used.

Common questions

Alimenté par l’IA

Not following the manufacturer's instructions can lead to improper installation resulting in unsafe towing conditions, increased risk of accidents, and potential legal liabilities if the tow bar were to fail on the road . Deviations from the instructions might also void warranties or result in damage to the vehicle or tow bar, subsequently leading to higher repair costs and reduced overall vehicle safety and integrity due to improper structural support . Ensuring adherence to instructions minimizes risks and ensures optimal functionality and safety .

Proper installation of a tow bar for a Peugeot 3008 involves several key steps: removing the exhaust pipe supports and the central screw under the bumper, replacing three lower screws of the bumper reinforcement with M8x50 screws, using additional nuts as spacers, and tightening all screws according to specified torque settings . Important instructions also include checking that no electrical or brake wires are damaged during drilling and treating drilled areas with an anticorrosive product . Failure to follow these instructions can lead to safety hazards, such as improperly secured tow bars, which might detach while driving, posing risks to the vehicle's structural integrity and safety on the road .

A damaged tow bar should be promptly repaired or replaced, especially if the paint is damaged, as this could lead to rust and further structural damage . Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure safety; this includes checking and retightening bolts, repairing paint damage, replacing damaged components, and greasing parts of detachable tow bars . Such maintenance prevents unexpected failures, ensures reliability, and prolongs the life of the tow bar .

Maintaining anticorrosive protection on drilled holes is vital to prevent rust formation, which can weaken the vehicle’s structural components and compromise the vehicle’s safety over time . By applying anticorrosive products to drilled areas, it ensures longevity and maintains the robustness of the vehicle's frame, reducing potential costly repairs related to rust damage . This practice effectively prolongs the life of the tow bar and the vehicle itself by preserving material integrity .

When drilling holes for tow bar installation, it is important to ensure no electrical or braking wires are present that could be damaged . Additionally, all soundproofing materials should be removed, and any drilled holes must be cleaned and treated with an anticorrosive product to prevent rust and structural issues . These precautions help in avoiding long-term mechanical problems and preserve the integrity of the vehicle .

Post-installation checks for a tow bar include inspecting and retightening all bolts after 1,000 km of use, repairing paint damage, replacing damaged components, and maintaining lubrication in detachable parts . These checks enhance safety by ensuring that the tow bar remains secure and functional under different conditions, reducing the risk of accidents due to mechanical failure . Regular maintenance ensures consistent performance and prevents deterioration of the tow bar .

Verifying the tow bar reference before installation is important to ensure that the tow bar is compatible with the specific make and model of the vehicle. An incorrect tow bar might not fit properly or may not handle the vehicle's maximum trailer weight safely, leading to potential installation challenges or safety hazards . This verification step confirms that the correct product is used, maximizing safety and efficiency .

Failing to follow specified tightening torques during tow bar installation can lead to loosening of screws and components under load, increasing the risk of detachment while driving. This could compromise safety, leading to accidents or vehicle damage . Incorrectly tightened parts may also cause uneven stress distribution, potentially warping the bar and reducing its load-carrying capacity, thereby affecting overall performance and reliability of the tow bar .

Consulting the technical service of Boisnier before installing a tow bar on vehicles with special bumpers is essential to ensure compatibility and prevent installation obstacles. Special bumpers, such as those from sports or tuning kits, might have altered shapes or materials that are not initially considered in standard tow bar designs . This step ensures that the tow bar can be safely and effectively fitted without compromising vehicle aesthetics or functionality .

If the towing ball blocks the view of the number plate or fog light, it must be removed when not towing a trailer. This action is obligatory because obscured number plates or fog lights can lead to violations of road safety regulations, reduce vehicle visibility, or affect the vehicle's legal compliance on the road . These measures ensure that the vehicle remains roadworthy and that there is no legal infringement due to obstructed essential vehicle features .
