PRESENT SIMPLE: USE
• El Present Simple se utiliza para hablar de costumbres y rutinas.
• She drinks a coffee every morning.
• I always smoke one cigarette after dinner.
• Para hablar de cosas que son verdades generales o hechos.
• Water freezes at 0 degrees.
• Leaves fall off trees in autum.
• Cats hunt mice.
• También lo utilizamos con la pregunta How often…? (¿con qué
frecuencia…?)
• How often do you drink alcohol?
• How often does he do sports?
• Otro uso es para contar chistes o de lo que trata una historia.
• (Joke) A man tells his doctor, “Doc, help me. I’m addicted to Twitter!”. And
the doctor replies, “Sorry, I don’t follow you…”
• (Story) When the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on
the people of Gotham, Batman accepts one of the greatest psychological
and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.
• Y también para hablar del futuro cuando se trata de horarios
establecidos, por ejemplo de bus, tren o vuelos.
• My train leaves at 3 a.m.
• Our flight lands in Madrid at 11 p.m.
Third person in Present Simple
(he/she/it)
• En Present Simple, al verbo de la 3ª persona del singular se le añade –
s al final.
• speak – He speaks
• Write – She writes
• Rain – It rains
• Con los verbos que terminan en consontante + y, reemplazamos la -y
por –ies.
• Fly: The bird flies.
• Study: She studies Medicine.
• Y con verbos que terminen en –ss, -sh, -ch, -x, -o añadimos –es.

ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY
• En Presente Simple, también se usan los adverbios de frecuencia,
para determinar la frecuencia con la que se hace o sucede algo.
• She is always late for school.
• I never eat junk food.
• We often go to the cinema together.
• El adverbio se coloca entre el sujeto y el verbo, salvo cuando se trata
del verbo to be; en este caso, el verbo va después del sujeto y antes
del adverbio de frecuencia.
• They sometimes drink red wine.
• I am always angry when I watch TV news.
PRESENT CONTINUOUS - FORM
• Utilizamos el Present Continuous para hablar de cosas que están
sucediendo en el momento de hablar.
• She’s reading an adventures novel.
• I’m explaning the grammar of this unit.
• They’re studying the Present Continuous right now.
• Y para hablar de planes que hemos hecho para el futuro y que
sabemos que van a suceder.
• I’m visiting my parents this weekend.
• She’s travelling to Greece this summer.
