COMPARATIVES
Igualdad:
Sirve para mencionar que un objeto o personas es similar a otra por
medio de un adjetivo. AS… AS… = TAN….. COMO.
SUJETO + VERBO + AS + ADJETIVO + AS + COMPLEMENTO
The living room is as big as the kitchen – LA SALA ES TAN GRANDE COMO LA COCINA
My sister jumps as high as my brother - MY HERMANA BRINCA TAN ALTO COMO MI HERMANO

COMPARATIVES
Superioridad: indican que un objeto o persona es superior a otra en base a un
adjetivo.
Se usa more ….. than o el sufijo er… than mas…. que
Si los adjetivos tienen mas de dos silabas:
SUJETO + VERBO + MORE + ADJETIVO + THAN + COMPLEMENTO
• My flower is more beautiful than yours – Mi flor es mas hermosa que la tuya
• The green car is more expensive than the red car – el carro verde es mas caro que el carro rojo
The motorcycle is more dangerous than the bicycle
Lla motocicleta es mas peligrosa que la bicicleta
This butterfly is more beautiful than the other one
Esta mariposa es mas hermosa que la otra
That boy is more interesting than Paul
Ese chico es mas interesante que paul
•Para formar adjetivos comparativos de superioridad cortos, solo tenemos
que añadir el sufijo “-er” y acompañarlos de “than” en la oración.
Long → Longer this river is longer than the other river
Cold → Colder
• Si el adjetivo ya termina en «e», sólo habría que añadir la letra «-r» al final:
Large → Larger
Nice → Nicer
examples: Those shoes are nicer than the other
Cuando el adjetivo es corto y termina en una consonante precedida por una vocal, la
consonante se duplica (si la consonante ya es doble, no se cambia.
• Hot → Hotter this coffe is hotter than the chocolate – este café esta mas caliente
que el chocolate
• Tall → Taller
• Big → Bigger
Para adjetivos terminados en “y”, el final de la palabra se transforma en “ier” suprimiendo la
“y”
• Happy → Happier my dog is happier than yours – mi perro es mas feliz
que el tuyo
• Tiny → Tinier
• Merry → Merrier

•Para formar el superlativo con adjetivos cortos, solo tenemos que añadir el
sufijo “EST”.
Long → the Longest this river is the longest of the country
