 INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the Spanish Grade 9 Self-Directed Module on ACCIONES EN CURSO.
This Module was designed to give you an opportunity to progress as a self-reliant
individual and provide an exciting learning adventure. This will help you improve your
knowledge and skills in writing down details of short and simple messages about actions in
progress.
This module is carefully crafted according to your learning level which contains a
package of study material for use by an individual learner. Furthermore, this will develop your
verbal and written skills and help you become an independent learner.
The following are some reminders in using this module:
1. Use the module in answering the exercises.
2. Don’t forget to answer What I Know before moving on to the other activities included in the
module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and checking your answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not hesitate to

Qué Es Nuevo/What is New

The word gerundio which means 'gerund' is to indicate only that a Spanish
verb ends in 'ndo', which is the equivalent of 'ing' in English. This means that
the gerundio in Spanish is used to express actions that are happening as we
speak but also about actions that are continuous. We can use it with the verb
estar (to be) but also in some fixed expressions with other verbs to express
continuous actions.

¿How to form the Gerund?

1. -ar verbs: drop the ar and add the ending ando; i.e. caminar (to walk) becomes
caminando (walking).
2. -er and -ir verbs: drop the er or ir and add the ending iendo; i.e. beber (to drink)
becomes bebiendo (drinking) and vivir (to live) becomes viviendo (living).

Los verbos Reflexivos tienen dos opciones:

2. Peinarse – Nos estamos peinando 4. Lavarse – Os estaís lavando
– Estamos peinandonos – Estaís lavandoos
