RULES FOR THE MULTIFUNCTIONAL LABORATORY
1. Los alumnos (as) que asistan al laboratorio deberán ingresar con la bata puesta, con su material de
trabajo y en presencia del profesor titular de la materia el día y hora correspondiente al horario
asignado a su práctica. En ausencia del profesor, la práctica no podrá ser realizada.
All students entering laboratory must wear a lab coat, have the necessary materials for the activity,
and be accompanied by their teacher during the scheduled time assigned for their practice.
Performing lab activities without the presence of the teacher is strictly prohibited
2. Es requisito indispensable para todos los asistentes al laboratorio el uso de bata blanca de manga
larga, exclusivamente de tela de algodón y bordada con sus apellidos completos al frente, así
como cualquier tipo de seguridad que el profesor determine como obligatorio (guantes, anteojos de
seguridad, etc.). En caso contrario no podrá ingresar al mismo.
The lab coat must be white, made of cotton, and have long sleeves. It must also display the student’s
last name embroidered on the front. In addition, students are required to wear all necessary safety
equipment for each practice (such as gloves, safety goggles, etc.). Students who do not comply with
these requirements will not be allowed to enter the laboratory.
3. El profesor deberá cumplir y respetar la calendarización de prácticas establecida, sin embargo,
cuando sea justificado por escrito al encargado del laboratorio se podrán efectuar cambios en la
programación de acuerdo a la disponibilidad del laboratorio.
Laboratory practices may only be carried out during the assigned schedule. However, to reschedule
a practice, a written justification must be submitted to the responsible person and will always depend
on laboratory availability.
4. Para nuestra seguridad es necesario que conozcas, antes de cada práctica, las propiedades, riesgos
y medidas de prevención, así como los procedimientos a seguir.
For safety reasons, all students have to know the associated risks, the materials to be used, their
properties, and the preventive measures required for the practice.
5. Para lograr un buen desarrollo experimental y por razones de seguridad y orden está prohibido:
To achieve the objectives of the practice and for safety reasons, the following is not allowed:
a) Utilizar lenguaje obsceno o palabras altisonantes / Using obscene language or offensive words
b) El uso de gorras o pañuelos en la cabeza / Wearing caps or headscarves
c) Ingerir alimentos, bebidas, así como masticar chicle / Consuming food, beverages, or chewing
gum
d) Ingreso a personas ajenas al grupo que desarrolla la práctica / Allowing individuals who are not
part of the assigned group to enter the laboratory.
e) Uso de zapatos con tacones superiores a 5 cm o zapatos de tipo abierto / Wearing shoes with
heels higher than 5 cm or open-toed shoes.
f) Alterar o usar indebidamente el mobiliario, material y equipo del laboratorio / Damaging or
misusing laboratory furniture, materials, or equipment.
g) Realizar actividades que vayan en contra del desarrollo de las prácticas: como correr, jugar,
probar sustancias, empujarse, y todo acto que incite al desorden / Engaging in behaviors that
disrupt the practice, such as running, playing, tasting substances, pushing, or any action that
leads to disorder.
h) Usar indebidamente el material y equipo de laboratorio / Improper use of laboratory materials
and equipment.
i) Utilizar sus teléfonos celulares para otros fines que no sean académicos, así como audífonos /
Using headphones or cell phones for non-academic purposes.

j) Ingresar con cabello suelto el cual deberán recogerlo y sujetarlo adecuadamente para evitar el
contacto con el fuego o sustancias peligrosas / Entering the laboratory with loose hair; it must
be tied and secured properly to prevent contact with flames or hazardous substances.
k) Uso de short o bermudas / Wearing shorts or Bermudas
6. Los integrantes de cada equipo son responsables de revisar el material y/o equipo antes y después
de su práctica. Cualquier tipo de anomalía, reportar al encargado del laboratorio.
Each team member is responsible for checking the materials and equipment before and after a
practice. Any anomalies must be reported to the laboratory staff or the person in charge.
7. Los integrantes de cada equipo son responsables de entregar el material y su lugar de trabajo
limpios.
The entire team is responsible for returning all materials and leaving the workspace (laboratory table)
neat and clean.
8. En caso de que algún material se deteriore o rompa, habrá que reponerlo en un tiempo no mayor a
15 días.
Any broken or damaged material must be replaced within a maximum of 15 days.
9. Al término de la práctica, los integrantes del equipo revisarán que las válvulas de gas y agua, estén
perfectamente cerradas en caso contrario se levantará el reporte correspondiente.
At the end of the practice, the team must check that all gas and water taps are properly closed. Any
irregularities must be reported to the laboratory staff or the person in charge for proper
documentation.
10. La acumulación de 2 faltas al Reglamento de Laboratorio, implicará la suspensión del alumno en su
práctica experimental y la no acreditación de la misma, por lo que se entregará un reporte detallado
de dichas faltas al coordinador de sección y al profesor titular de la materia.
Two violations of these bylaws will result in the student suspension from laboratory practices and a
failing grade for the activity. The laboratory supervisor will provide a detailed report to the coordinator
and the teacher.
El cumplimiento del reglamento garantiza el éxito en el desarrollo experimental, donde se refuerza
el trabajo colaborativo.
Compliance with these bylaws ensures the development of student’s experimental skills and also
strengthens their ability to work collaboratively

SECURITY MEASURES
Lo que se debe y no se debe hacer:
What should and shouldn't do:
1.- Reconocer y pedir el material para realización de la práctica.
Identify and request the materials needed to carry out the practice.
2.-Al contacto con las sustancias, usa espátula, pinzas, pipetas, guantes, etc.
When handling substances, use a spatula, tongs, pipettes, gloves, etc.
3.-Etiqueta los materiales que utilizarás para no confundir los reactivos, pues hay algunos cuyo
aspecto es muy parecido.
Label the materials you will use to avoid mixing up substances, as some may look very similar.
4.-Lava tus manos después de trabajar en el laboratorio.
Wash your hands after working in the laboratory.
5.-Tira los objetos de vidrio rotos o agrietados, en el cesto de basura correspondiente.
Dispose of broken or cracked glassware in the designated waste container.
6.-Nunca tomes algo en un vaso de laboratorio.
Never drink from a laboratory glass.
7.-Nunca intentes probar los químicos.
Never attempt to taste chemicals.
8.- No te toques los ojos ni la boca cuando estés trabajando en el laboratorio.
Do not touch your eyes or mouth while working in the laboratory.
9.-No huelas los químicos directamente.

Do not smell chemicals directly.
10.-No pongas en la mesa y hacia abajo, los tapones de los frascos del reactivo que emplees, pues
puede adherir impurezas y contaminar las soluciones. Cuando te sobren reactivos, no los devuelvas
al frasco original; así evitarás que se deterioren.
Do not place substance caps face down on the table, as this may pick up impurities and contaminate
solutions. Do not return leftover reagent to the original container to help prevent deterioration.
11.-Lavar inmediatamente al contacto con los químicos o ácidos.
Wash immediately if you come into contact with chemicals or acids.
12.-Tubos de ensayo calientes no dirigirlos a la cara.
Do not point hot test tubes toward your face.
13.-Traer guantes y lentes de seguridad cuando sea necesario.
Wear gloves and safety goggles when necessary.
14.-Preguntar al profesor cuando se tenga la duda del manejo de alguna sustancia, sobre todo
cuando sean de deshecho pregunta donde hay que depositarlas.
Always ask teacher if you are unsure on how to handle any substance, especially when it comes to
waste; ask how or where it should be disposed of.
15.- Al utilizar los mecheros sobre todo el de gas debes de revisar:
When using burners, especially gas burners, you must check:
a) Que las conexiones estén bien hechas / That all connections are secure.
b) Que la flama debe estar “normal” y no en forma de llamarada. / That the flame is “regular”
and not flaring up.
c) Debe encenderse con cerillos no con papel / Must be lit with matches, never with paper.
