Present Continuous for Future Arrangements
El Present Continuous no sólo se utiliza para hablar de acciones
largas en presente, sino que también tiene otros usos, como el que
estudiaremos a continuación;
We can use the Present Continuous in a Future sense (podemos
utilitzar el Presente Continuous en sentido de Futuro). Lo
utilizamos para hablar de acciones planificadas seguras en un
futuro cercano.
Por ejemplo; Hoy por la noche veré una peli (ya he quedado con
los amigos para verla, no es una acción que acabo de decidir ahora
mismo, sino que es una cosa segura y planificada en futuro
próximo)
Solo tenemos que agregar una expresión de tiempo futuro a la
oración. Como sabes, el Presente Continuo se forma con el verbo
TO BE y el verbo principal terminado en -ing, la forma del verbo
To be dependerá del sujeto;
Ejemplos :
I am meeting Sean next week. (reunirse - meeting)
Sue is travelling to Hawai in two days.
My mother and I are playing music together.
(together - juntas)
Estas oraciones también se pueden construir en negativo;
I am not meeting Sean next week
Sue isn't (or is not) travelling to Hawai in two days.
My mother and I aren't (or are not) playing music together
soon. (Mi madre y yo no tocaremos (o no tocaremos) música juntos pronto. )
También se pueden hacer preguntas;
Are you meeting Sean next week?
Is Sue travelling to Hawai in two days?
Are my mother and I playing music together soon?
Expresiones de tiempo para planes futuros:
tonight, tomorrow, this weekend
• next week/month/year
• this summer/fall/winter/spring (fall - otoño)
• on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/etc.
• next Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/etc.
Cuando se habla del futuro más cercano o se intenta hacer un
arreglo con alguien, existen expresiones de tiempo útiles que
puede utilizar. Por lo general, se colocan al final de la oración,
pero también son correctas al principio.
Ejemplos :
Tomorrow I am meeting Sara / I am meeting Sara tomorrow
(esta opción es mejor que la otra)
Arranging to meet (arreglando para reunirse)
Aquí hay tres expresiones que puede usar para invitar a alguien;
Let's...(Let's go: vamos / Let's play: juguemos / let's meet on
Monday: quedamos el lunes / let's enroll to the campus:
apuntemonos al campus)
• Why don't we... (Why don't we...go to the cinema tonight?: Porque no vamos al cine
esta noche? /Why don't we... visit Mary in London: Porque no visitamos a Maria en
Londres?)
• We could...(We could... take your bike: poddríamos coger tu bicicleta /We could...eat
some pizza:podríemos comer pizza)
