CONDITIONAL SENTENCES
parte. Hay tres tipos de oraciones condicionales.
First Conditional (Tipo 1)
IF Condition Result clause
If present simple Will ( future simple) + infinitive verb
Examples:
• If you freeze water, it will become ice – (Si congelas agua, se convertirá en hielo.)
• If it rains, the floor will become wet – (Si llueve, el suelo se humedecerá.)
• We’ll stay at home if it snows. (Nos quedaremos en casa si nieva.
• If you don’t listen, you won’t understand the lesson. ( Si no escuchas, no entenderás la
lección.)
• If I have time, I will help you. ( Si tengo tiempo, te ayudaré).
• If Bill studies he will pass the exam. / Bill will pass the exam if he studies. (Si Bill estudia,
aprobará el examen.)
• If it doesn’t rain, we will go to the beach. / We will go to the beach if it doesn’t rain. (Si no
llueve, iremos a la playa.)
• I won’t go to the party if Mary doesn’t invite me – (No iré a la fiesta si Mary no me invita.)
Second Conditional (Tipo 2)
IF Condition Result clause
If past simple would + infinitive verb
Además, para dar consejo utilizamos la expresión If I were you.
Examples:
• If I won the lottery, I would travel around the world. / I would travel around the world if I won the
lottery.
• If Rachel had more time, she would learn to play the guitar. / Rachel would learn to play the guitar if
she had more time.
• If I lived in New York, I would walk everyday around Times Square – (Si viviese en Nueva York,
pasearía cada día por Times Squares.)
• If the weather weren’t so bad, we would go to the beach – ( Si no hiciese tan mal tiempo,
