149-159 p.a.
Dism a ambos lados como sigue: 4 p.a. 2-3-6-8 vcs, 3 p.a. 3-7-7-7 vcs, 2 p.a. 14-9-6-5 vcs;

Crafters might face challenges with tension and accurate stitch count when following the "Mediterranean Love" top pattern, as consistent tension is crucial given the fitted nature of the top . Ensuring the correct tension can be challenging, but practicing on a swatch using Safran yarn with a 3 mm hook to match the 20 stitches by 11 rows per 10 cm gauge can mitigate this . Additionally, accurately following the series of decreases and maintaining the central alignment of the diagram pattern through constant counting and adjustment can also pose difficulties . Regular checking of stitch count and alignment with pattern diagrams can help avoid errors that affect the fit . Video tutorials and community forums can provide guidance and support, offering visual guidance for complex steps .
To shape the body of the "Mediterranean Love" top, begin by crocheting a foundation chain of 170, 183, 196, or 210 stitches depending on the size, using a 3 mm hook . Next, work double crochet stitches across the foundation chain, maintaining a pattern of skipping 1 chain and working 3 double crochets in the next stitch to achieve the initial width . Increase stitches at both sides by adding 1 double crochet to each side for several rows until reaching the total desired number of stitches for each size (ranging from 145 to 181 double crochets). As the work measures approximately 7 to 10 cm, begin decreasing stitches as described in the instructions, making sure to center the diagram pattern on the central 55 stitches . The pattern includes detailed guidance on decreasing sequences of 4, 3, and 2 double crochets across multiple rows to achieve the final dimensions . After completing the diagram, the piece should measure approximately 30 to 34 cm .
The "Mediterranean Love" top incorporates several appealing design elements that attract crafting enthusiasts, such as the intricate backless design, which offers an open and elegant aesthetic . The use of refined crochet techniques like the detailed double crochet pattern and strategically placed decreases contribute to a fitted and flattering silhouette . The choice of a chic bone white yarn and the subtle sheen of mother-of-pearl buttons add a touch of sophistication and timelessness to the garment . These elements, combined with the artisanal craftsmanship evident in the braided closure, position the top as both a functional and stylish piece ideal for showcasing crochet skills and creating a fashion-forward wardrobe staple .
The design adjustments in the "Mediterranean Love" top—such as the open back style and the use of crocheted button loops for a customizable fit—reflect broader trends in crochet fashion that emphasize versatility and personalization . These features align with contemporary preferences for handmade garments that highlight individual style and offer adaptable fit solutions for different body types. The use of sophisticated decreases and structured shapes also mirrors the trend of integrating traditional crochet techniques with modern silhouettes, appealing to those looking for timeless yet trendy fashion pieces . Additionally, the choice of chic, minimalistic fastening methods like braided cords echoes a move towards sustainable and elegant handmade clothing, underscoring a preference for garments that can be worn across various seasons .
The pattern’s use of crocheted button loops and braided tie cords in the "Mediterranean Love" top offers considerable versatility, allowing crocheters to adjust the garment’s fit to their personal preference. The button loop system allows for minor adjustments in the width and tightness of the fit, while the woven braid through the top row of holes offers additional control over the snugness of the back closure . This versatility caters to variations in size and comfort preference, providing a customizable nature that enhances the appeal for different body shapes and styles. Furthermore, this closure technique is more forgiving and adaptable compared to fixed closures, leading to increased practicality for everyday wear .
The "Mediterranean Love" top pattern uses a systematic decreasing method to shape the garment effectively. The rationale for this method involves sequence-based decreases—4 double crochets are decreased 2 to 8 times depending on size, followed by 3 double crochets decreased 3 to 7 times, and 2 double crochets decreased 14 to 5 times . This decrement strategy helps contour the top, aligning with the body’s natural curves and altering the overall fit progressively to avoid abrupt changes in structure. Such a design ensures that the top remains snug yet comfortable, avoiding excess flaring while maintaining a cropped aesthetic . The decreases commence as soon as a sufficient number of rows are built, ensuring the top's transition to the final dimensions (approx 30 to 34 cm) is smooth and symmetrically balanced .
The finishing touches for the "Mediterranean Love" top involve creating button loops and attaching buttons to the back for closure. This is done by crocheting a loop with a 3 mm hook and white bone color yarn at the top of each side at the center back. The loop is made by crocheting 1 double crochet, 2 chain stitches, skipping 0.5 cm, and securing with another double crochet . Fit customization is achieved by trying on the top to position the buttons correctly—one inside the left back section and one outside the right section . Additionally, three cords are created by chaining approximately 1 meter each, then braiding them and knotting the ends. The braid is threaded through the topmost row of loops on the top to secure it .
The incorporation of diagrams in the "Mediterranean Love" pattern facilitates comprehension, particularly for visual learners by providing a clear visual guide to the stitch sequences and pattern layout. Diagrams depict the arrangement of stitches, such as the details of high points and chaining, essential for aligning the central 55-stitch diagram for symmetrical shaping . This visual representation complements the written instructions, enabling crocheters to cross-reference between text and visuals to ensure accuracy. However, understanding diagrams requires a level of expertise with symbolic representation in crochet, which may require practice for beginners. Thus, the diagrams enhance ease for experienced crocheters but may initially challenge newcomers until they become accustomed to reading such patterns .
The "Mediterranean Love" crochet top pattern originally used Safran Mouliné yarn, which is now discontinued. It has been adapted to use Safran yarn instead. To ensure the correct tension with this yarn, a 3 mm crochet hook is recommended, and the sample should have a gauge of 20 stitches by 11 rows measuring 10 x 10 cm . This requires adjusting the tightness of the stitches to maintain the garment's intended structure and fit. It's crucial not to crochet too loosely because the top is relatively small and fitted .
To crochet the "Mediterranean Love" top, the materials needed include DROPS Safran yarn in a bone white color, requiring 100 to 150 grams depending on the size, and two mother-of-pearl DROPS buttons, style number 521 . A 3 mm crochet hook is also necessary to achieve the correct tension . These tools and materials help ensure the final garment's quality by maintaining the intended fit and appearance. The yarn choice affects the drape and texture, while the hook size is crucial for achieving the pattern's specified gauge, affecting the consistency and size of the stitches .
