A Spanish-language TV station is interviewing a group of people of different ages about
a memorable day in their lives. Listen to each person’s answer and complete the grid on
your answer sheet. Circle the correct letter to indicate how old the person was, where he
or she was, who else was there, and what the person’s feelings were. You will hear each
answer twice.

B. Leer
Carlos will be in charge of his brother and sister tonight. Before leaving home, Sra.
Martínez writes a list of dos and don’ts for Carlos. Read the list, and then read the
statements on your answer sheet. Write C (cierto) next to each statement that is true
and F (falso) next to each statement that is false.

Read the following entry in Jaime’s diary. Then, next to each statement on your answer

Sábado 15 de abril
Esta semana he estado muy ocupado. El lunes, después de las clases, fui a la reunión del
club de ajedrez. La reunión fue muy interesante pero salí del club muy tarde y volví
a casa a las seis. El martes tuve que hacer varias cosas. Primero envié unas cartas
y luego compré unas medicinas para la abuela. Por último, antes de volver a casa tuve

Imagine you witnessed this scene. Write about what type of disaster it was and who was
involved. Explain what they were doing when the disaster occurred and how they were
feeling. Tell what you think happened after this moment. Use complete sentences and
write on your answer sheet.

• how comprehensible you are.
• the accurate use of vocabulary and grammar used when describing
past events.

1. Talk about things you used to do when you were a child. Tell what you were like
(studious, mischievous, etc.). Talk about your friends or siblings. You can describe
daily activities at home and at school. Don’t forget to talk about your favorite toys
and games, and places where you liked to play.

2. Talk about some special or family event you attended recently. Explain the reason
for the event. Describe the place where the event occurred and the people who were
there. Talk about something special that happened during the event.

3. Talk about how you or your family used to spend the weekends when you were
younger. Describe things you used to do and places you used to go. If you prefer,
you can talk about how your family celebrated some special date when you were a

people who were with you. Describe the clothes you and your friends were wearing
that day.
