SANTA ROSA DE LIMA

Santa Rosa de Lima nació el 20 de abril de 1586 en Lima su padre Gaspar Flores y su madre Maria de Oliva, fue bautizada con el nombre de
Isabel Flores de Oliva. De niña se fue a vivir a las serranias de Quives, ya desde su infancia se había manifestado su vocación religiosa y una
singular elevación espiritual. Había aprendido música, canto y poesía de la mano de su madre.

En 1597 recibe el sacramento de la confirmación de manos del arzobispo de Lima, Santo Toribio Alfonso de Mogrovejo, en la confirmación
recibió el nombre de Rosa.

En 1606, a los 20 años, se ordenó como monja en la orden terciaria de los dominicos, dedicando el resto de su vida a ayudar a las personas
enfermas y a los niños.

En 1617, Santa Rosa de Lima hizo voto de castidad y se encomendó a Dios de por vida, viviendo una vida de austeridad extrema y rechazando
las ofertas de matrimonio que recibía.

Ese mismo año, el 23 de agosto de 1617 y a la edad de 31 años, Santa Rosa de Lima fallece a causa de una tuberculosis.
