INTRODUCTION
The evolution towards the 5G standard is revolutionizing wireless mobile communications,
introducing new network architectures such as air cells. The latter, which include drones and
balloons as mobile base stations, pose significant challenges in terms of resource
management, coverage, and quality of service (QoS). The effective integration of control
system theory with wireless networks becomes crucial to optimize the performance and
efficiency of these networks in a dynamic and complex environment.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
The main challenge lies in
how to design and manage
control systems that can
quickly adapt to fluctuations
in data demand, changes in
network topology due to the
mobility of air cells, and the
need to ensure a continuous
and reliable user experience in 5G and future environments.
JUSTIFICATION
The deployment of air cells in 5G networks promises to significantly improve network
coverage and capacity. However, to take full advantage of these benefits, it is essential to
develop advanced control systems that can efficiently manage the mobility and resources of
these air base stations. The integration of control system theory and wireless networks,
supported by machine learning algorithms, offers a promising solution to address these
challenges, enabling more efficient and adaptable management of future communication
networks.
OBJECTIVES
General Objective: To investigate the integration of control systems and wireless network
theory to improve the performance of air cells in 5G networks and beyond.
Specific Objectives:
To develop a mathematical model for the dynamic control of air cells in 5G environments.
Implement adaptive resource allocation algorithms based on machine learning to optimize
spectrum and energy utilization.
Evaluate the robustness of the proposed system against realistic mobility scenarios and
changes in traffic demand.
Research Objective: To propose a methodological framework for the efficient coexistence of
control systems and wireless networks, ensuring optimal resource management and a
significant improvement in the quality of service for end users.
STATE OF THE ART
Current research in 5G and beyond has explored various facets of airborne base station
deployment. However, most of these studies focus on specific aspects such as coverage and
capacity without fully addressing the integration of control and communication systems.
There are significant advances in 3D channel modeling and machine learning techniques for
resource allocation, but the joint integration of these components remains an underexplored
area that this research aims to cover.
HYPOTHESIS
The integration of control systems
theory with wireless networks and
the implementation of air cells in
5G environments and beyond will
enable more efficient resource
management, significantly
improving network coverage,
capacity, and quality of service.
METHODOLOGY
Mathematical Modelling: Develop mathematical models to describe the dynamic behaviour
of air cells and their interaction with the 5G network.
Machine Learning Algorithms: Implement and train machine learning algorithms for adaptive
resource allocation and prediction of air base station movements.
Simulations and Tests: Perform simulations to evaluate the performance of the proposed
system in different mobility and traffic demand scenarios.
Robustness Assessment: Analyze the robustness of the system against positioning errors and
fluctuations in demand.
