This is a summary of the 9 parts of speech*. You can find more detail if you click on each part
of speech.
Palabras con más de un trabajo
Muchas palabras en inglés pueden tener más de un trabajo o ser más de una parte del
discurso. Por ejemplo, "trabajo" puede ser un verbo y un sustantivo; "pero" puede ser una
conjunción y una preposición; "bien" puede ser un adjetivo, un adverbio y una interjección.
Además, muchos sustantivos pueden actuar como adjetivos.
Para analizar la parte del discurso, pregúntese: "¿Qué trabajo está haciendo esta palabra en
esta oración?"
En la siguiente tabla puedes ver algunos ejemplos. Por supuesto, hay más, incluso para
algunas de las palabras de la tabla. De hecho, si buscas en un buen diccionario verás que la
palabra "pero" tiene seis funciones: verbo, sustantivo, adverbio, pronombre, preposición y
conjunción!
