PREPOSITIONS (PREPOSICIONES)
Las preposiciones en inglés son una o varias partes de la oración que unen
palabras denotando la relación que tienen entre sí. Se utilizan en todas las
conversaciones diarias y son una parte imprescindible del idioma.
Preposiciones de lugar y de movimiento en inglés
ON – Sobre, encima (tocando la superficie).
My book is on the table.
También puede referirse a la ubicación de un edificio sobre una calle o avenida.
The National Museum is on 7th avenue.
BELOW/ UNDER – Debajo.
The car park is below reception.
The waste basket is under the desk.
OVER / ABOVE – Encima de, sobre. (sin tocar la superficie).
The second floor is above reception.
The lamps are over the students.
IN – Dentro de, en (refiriéndose a un lugar)
Those students are in the classroom.
Monserrate is in Bogotá.
BEHIND – Detrás.
The board is behind the teacher.
IN FRONT OF – En frente de.
The Gold Museum is in front of Santander park.
BETWEEN – En medio de.
David is between Mónica and Ana Milena.
BESIDE/ NEXTO TO – Al lado de.
Nelson is next to Diana.
NEAR (to) – Cerca de.
That restaurant is near my house.
PREPOSICIONES DE MOVIMIENTO – Estas preposiciones indican como llegar a un
lugar.
INTO – Dentro. Entrar (Acompañado del verbo GO)
Go into the elevator.
OUT OF – Fuera de. Salir de (Acompañado del verbo GO)
Go out of the office and turn left.
UP – Arriba. Subir (acompañado del verbo GO)
Go up to the third floor.
THROUGH – A través de, atravesar.
Go through the park on the way to the library.
ACROSS – En frente (Prep. de lugar)
The restaurant is across the Street.
Atravesar -(Acompañada del verbo GO).
We go across the road for a coffee.
AROUND – Alrededor, en torno a.
Go around the park and you will find the main gate.
