Por qu una gua de locaciones de Montevideo? Porque Montevideo es un departamento amable para filmar, con paisajes que merecen ser registrados. En esta versin impresa presentamos una seleccin de locaciones como primera muestra del potencial flmico del departamento, que se complementar con otras herramientas en las cuales la Oficina de Locaciones Montevideanas ya est trabajando. La concrecin de este catlogo es un ejercicio de profesionalizacin y un esfuerzo por validar el proceso de trabajo conjunto con todos los actores vinculados al sector audiovisual. Estamos convencidos de que ser fuente de estmulo para la comprensin cabal de lo que implica la labor de los realizadores, productores, tcnicos, actores uruguayos en la bsqueda de desarrollar esta creciente industria y diversificar mercados. Al mismo tiempo, muestra nuestra preocupacin por procurar que la actividad audiovisual conviva de la mejor manera con las actividades cotidianas de los barrios y sus vecinos. Presentamos nuestra ciudad y nuestro departamento seguros de que este instrumento ser una seal clara de compromiso con la mejora de la gestin.

Why publish a locations guide to Montevideo? Because Montevideo is a congenial department in which to film, with scenery that deserves to be documented. In this printed version of the guide we present a selection of locations as an initial sample of the departments film potential. It will be supplemented by a number of further tools which the Montevideo Locations Office is preparing. The production of this catalog has implied an exercise in professionalization and an effort to validate the joint work of all the stakeholders associated with the audiovisual sector. We believe this guide will provide an incentive to fully understand what the work of Uruguayan creators, producers, technicians and actors entails in their attempt to develop this growing industry and to diversify markets. At the same time, it shows our concern in endeavoring to make audiovisual activities coexist on the best possible terms with the routine activities of neighborhoods and the people who live in them. We present our city and our department in the certainty that this tool will be a clear sign of our commitment to improved management.

Montevideo se abre a la mirada de creativos de cine, comerciales publicitarios, videoclips o fotografas en una oportunidad maravillosa para darse a conocer. Montevideo contiene en sus muros, sus esquinas, sus parques y plazas, su rambla y sus edificios recuerdos de otras pocas y relatos que cada da se vuelven a construir con renovadas energas. PRADO. Avenida Buschental entre avenida Lucas Obes y arroyo Miguelete La rosaleda Juana de Ibarbourou est ubicada en el paseo del Prado. Est formada por cuatro grandes prgolas y en el centro se ubica una fuente de bronce. Adems de la gran variedad de especies vegetales que conforman el parque, cuenta con 450 especies de rosas. En la parte cercana a la costa presenta una topografa escarpada, donde se ubica el Molino de Prez, antiguo molino hidrulico. El proyecto del parque data de 1956. There are craggy, uneven areas close to the coast, where the Molino de Prez is located; an old water-powered mill. The park was designed in 1956. VILLA DOLORES ZOO
VILLA DOLORES. Rivera 3245 Centrally located zoological gardens, open to the public since 1919. It was originally a private villa whose owners collected animals in the manner of the Victorian concept of exhibition. Small cages and paths which marked out the route to be followed around the park were the prevailing features. In 1912, Alejo Rossell y Rius and his wife, Dolores Pereira, donated the seven-hectare site to Montevideo City Hall. Montevideo Locations Office.

El diseo moderno combina un orden racional en la meseta y un tratamiento agreste en las laderas rocosas que terminan en la rambla. The squares modern design combines the rational order of the plateau with the rough wilderness of the rocky slopes leading to the rambla. This iconic square- with the statue of Artigas at the centeris a venue for official public ceremonies. It was created as a public space in 1836 and is the work of a military engineer, Jos M. Reyes. Its present shape and dimensions were established in 1837. The features introduced by architect Carlos Zucchi, who designed the squares current concept of space, are in the manner of laudatory squares in the classic French style. Montevideo Locations Office. Thirty kilometers long (over eighteen miles), it starts out in Capurro and stretches all the way to the neighborhood of Carrasco, to the boundaries of the department of Montevideo. In addition to being a major means of circulation for traffic, the rambla is the citys favorite pedestrian promenade. AGUADA. Avenida de las Leyes s/n Imponente edificio emplazado en el extremo de la avenida Libertador Brig. Gral. J. A. Lavalleja, sede del Poder Legislativo uruguayo. Sus exteriores estn recubiertos de distintos mrmoles y su fachada principal cuenta con una gran escalinata. Estos elementos, adems de cumplir funciones ornamentales, aportan la carga semntica representativa de las funciones democrticas del edificio. Obra del arquitecto V. Meano, data de 1903. La adaptacin es del arquitecto Vzquez Varela, la decoracin del arquitecto G. Mortetti y los responsables de la construccin fueron los ingenieros J. Debernardis y M. Debernardis. An imposing building located at the far end of avenida Libertador Brig. Gral. J. A. Lavalleja, it is the seat of Uruguays Parliament. Its outer walls are covered in different types of marble and a wide flight of steps leads up to the main faade. In addition to their ornamental purpose, these elements are endowed with a semantic significance that represents the democratic functions of the building. It is the work of architect V. Meano and dates back to 1903. It was adapted by architect Vzquez Varela and the decorative elements are the work of architect G. Mortetti. Engineers J. Debernardis and M. La Oficina de Locaciones Montevideanas acta como interlocutor en la solicitud de permisos para la utilizacin de locaciones. La tarea de esta oficina es de articulacin y coordinacin, pero la concesin de un permiso de rodaje corresponde al organismo del que depende la locacin o a sus propietarios. Los responsables de las locaciones establecen las condiciones de uso, de acuerdo con las caractersticas de estas y del rodaje. Todo uso est sujeto a disponibilidad.

Montevideo Locations Office serves as a mediator in the process of requesting permission to use locations. This offices task involves interaction and coordination; however, it is the agency responsible for the location, or its owners, that grant filming permits. The persons responsible for the locations will determine their conditions of use, in accordance with the characteristics of each location and of the shoot. The use of any location will be subject to availability.
