B1 Informal Email Structure
1️⃣ Greeting
Start with Liebe … or Hallo …
o Example:
Liebe Anna,
Hallo Paul,
2️⃣ Opening / Small talk
Ask how the person is.
Say how you are.
Thank for their email (if replying).
o Example:
Wie geht es dir? Mir geht es gut. Vielen Dank für deine E-Mail.
3️⃣ Purpose of the email
Explain why you are writing.
Give reason or context.
o Example:
Ich schreibe dir, weil ich dich zu meiner Geburtstagsfeier einladen
möchte.
Ich schreibe dir, weil meine Tochter krank ist und ich deshalb nicht
kommen kann.
4️⃣ Main message / details
Give important information: date, time, place, activities.
If asking a question, write it clearly.
o Example:
Die Feier findet am Samstag, den 24. Dezember, um 18 Uhr bei mir zu
Hause statt.
Hast du am Samstag um 11 Uhr Zeit, um ins Restaurant zu gehen?
5️⃣ Polite request / action
Ask the reader to respond or do something.
o Example:
Bitte sag mir Bescheid.
Bitte ruf mich an und gib Bescheid.
6️⃣ Closing / friendly goodbye
Finish with a short closing and your name.
o Example:
